A few years ago, I was told there was a problem with teachers who were doing Amway here in Taiwan as a side line. The more you bought from the teacher, the more chance your kid had of getting a better mark. That was quashed and they found another gimmick...extra classes after school for cash, but a lot of the material on final exams was what was only covered in the extra classes.
