BartSimpson BartSimpson:
Where's someone of our resident apologists to tell us to respect this jerkwad's point of view?
They are waiting in New York City for the new mosque to open at Ground Zero to open to show how PC they are.

Well.................

To be fair, it sounds as this ban is more against a decadent Western fad than against dogs themselves.

I'm no banner waver for Islam but one lunatic is just that.

I'm wary of militant Islam but I'm also wary of people using our fears to promote other agendas, like the English Defence League are doing in the UK.

What we really need to do is ensure Muslims in our own countries become part of our society instead of being on the outside like I see in England. Muslims who come to the West looking for a better life need to realise that there are aspects to their religion and culture that don't jive well with our values.

We can and should accommodate newcomers but not at the expense of our society. We can't even discuss this stuff openly for fear of being called 'racists' and our politicians are too meek to show some real leadership.

Lack of real discussion just encourages the racists on both sides.

That's some good rational thinking there brock. Yes, some aspects of western culture don't gel well with Islam or vice versa but that doesn't mean we can't integrate or live side by side.

I agree as well. There is a lot of learning that needs to go on. I'll still keep my dog though.

Great post.. I don't know why you should "fear" being called a racist though. If you are someone who believes there are more than one race of human beings, you're a racist. Simple as that. Calling someone a racist for speaking about "muslims" and not Arabs though is like calling someone an anti-semite for speaking about Israel.

I'm skeptical of anyone who hates dogs.

The Muslim/Arab equation doesn't work as well as the Jewish/Israel one.

The biggest Muslim country in the world isn't Arab and there are plenty of non-Arab Muslim countries.

There's only one Jewish state.

But I agree on the dog thing.
