Sadly, this is the worst possible time.
This will successfully be used by Ahmadinejad as an attack against the Iranian people, and will successfully destroy the momentum of the anti-Islamist forces currently uprising. Nothing boosts sagging popularity numbers like a foreign attack.

Or maybe they know that if the government of Iran falls, the international community would never stand by for an Israeli attack on a reforming Iran.
They should have attacked 2 years ago. The timing by Netanyahu is plain dumb. Why not 5 weeks ago?
The interesting issue is the refueling and overflight in Iraqi airspace. Supposedly Obama said the US would not allow access to Iraqi airspace for the mission, which according to think tank nerds means approximately a 33% casualty rate for the Israeli Airforce.
That is going to be something.

Iran's regime falling is not that great of a feat to be honest.
I have a personal disdain for theocracies so my take on this is biased, but the Iranian regime needs to change on its own. If Israel strikes it will only unite the Iranians.

I don't think anyone believes an Israeli attack on Iran is going to assist the political opposition.
I wish al-Sistani would speak up. He could cause the downfall of the Iranian government if he spoke out just once against it.

It might not 'assist the political opposition' but it may stop the guy who advocated 'wiping Israel off the map'.
Wow. Isn't this stuff very obvious? Or am I unusually gifted? I think not. For far too long some of us in the 'West' have supported the wrong side.
Iran is the wrong side. Just look at how they treat their people compared to Israel. Leave the Palestinian thing alone, they hate Jews.
There is no sense in polling them, in their Jihadist-Soprano-esque world. They are just too bitter about everything.
Remember them dancing after the aircraft hit the World Trade Center? How could they? Nothing has changed with these people.
