we`re sending all our jobs their way, so why the hell do we keep letting more wogs in here? Unless they`re going to create jobs for Canadians, the doors should stay locked.

Excuse me, the Thais are not 'wogs', but the Pakis are 8) . Last I checked the Thais are wholly absent a derogatory epithet and, IMHO, this speaks rather well of them in the general global sense.

there`s an old British saying.....the wogs start at Calais.

What is it with people over 50? Do you not have tastebuds?

I could just mulch up some pencil shavings and wood glue to get the same effect..

Anyone who consumes less than two cups of sugar in their breakfast meal is obviously just wrong, ;)

To be honest I do add dried cranberries to the mix. Sometimes I get crazy and add diced apples, too.

A splash of whisky.

Restructuring by exporting all of the jobs to Thailand... globalization at its finest.

You're an idiot.

The reason the plant is closing is in the story:

$1:
Almost all traditional cereal makers are facing a declines in sales, as more Canadians choose breakfast meals such as shakes and cereal bars over pouring a bowl of cereal. As a result, the London plant has produced less of their 27 different varieties of cereal every year.

"The move is part of overall restructuring the company is pursuing to rationalize operations by 2018 that will also see closure of a plant in Australia and the expansion of a Thailand facility."

Downsizing 1st world production facilities in favour of low wage earners in less fortunate countries. A nice stiff trade policy and tariffs would fix this. Which is exactly why I said this is a nice little problem caused by Globalization.

The expansion in Thailand is to serve a growing Asian market, not to serve a declining North American market.

Besides, what do you have against poor people in 'less fortunate' Thailand getting access to better jobs?

For someone who has been outsourced a couple times (IIRC), I'm surprised you don't see eye-to-eye with him on this issue.

FTR, I'm not against uplifting people in poor countries, but I don't want our middle class wiped out to do so. There should be some sort of balance.

You're not a hard-core lefty who's moniker is an homage to Noam Chomsky. I'm just responding to Comrade Chomsky within the parameters of his own, self-avowed world view.

It's true that I rather favor protectionism anymore and hang the so-called 'free trade' in the world that, frankly, isn't all that free.

I don't eat Frosted Flakes or anything else from Kellogg's or Post so I frankly don't worry about it.
