Tricks Tricks:
So why does no one care about the 9th amendment?

I do. But I'm not USAian.

But the supreme court decision, while it affects Roe V Wade, was about more than abortion. Same with the other cases that Justice Thomas cited in the decision. It was about stare decisis, and things that have already been decided. Roe v Wade was decided on the right to privacy from the State. Cases also cited in that overturning of Roe v Wade, which also depend on the right to privacy from the state include cases where a person has the right to sleep with whoever they want, and marry whoever they want, free from the state's intervention.

I've seen opinions that it wasn't abortion that was overturned, it will be the person's right to privacy that is going to be the ultimate casualty here. And the 9th amendment is very important to that, because the US Constitution has no enumerated right to privacy. The absolutists will not allow anything that isn't expressly in the Constitution, even though the authors never envisioned a spying device in everyone's pocket tied directly back to the State.

The people in this square of the checkerboard have the right to make the rules in that square. Who cares if it fucks up the rules of the game itself?

Scape Scape:

I think what she is suggesting, without saying the actual words, is "pulling out". Not the best method of contraception.

Or, just not having sex. :?:

She has six kids so obviously she is lacking when it comes to controlling semen intake. On the plus side she walks the walk when she says that she is against abortion.

It's easy to be against abortion when you have a husband with good income. It's harder when you are a single mom and have 3 other kids.

Also easier to cover up when you're well off.

Sorry I didn't mean us, I meant americans. They fetishize the constitution but ignore the 9th amendment routinely. It's strange.

You Don’t “Both Sides” Human Rights
$1:
In covering the end of widespread reproductive freedom in the United States, the CBC goes the both-sides route. At what point should something be considered a human-rights issue and no longer subject to debate?

And the Convoy — or at least something similar — is set to rematerialize in Ottawa. What has the media learned since last time, and are we any closer to putting our finger on a diffuse movement that’s very different to different people? Jonathan Goldsbie fills in for Jesse and Rachel Cairns co-hosts.

CBC segment

Dr. Jennifer Gunter Tweet re: appearance on CBC

CBC WTF???? Way to shit the bed.
