I don't admire China or Iran, Their complete lack of human rights is horrendous. I do however, think that this country bends over backwards(or just bends over), to ensure that the criminal's rights are not violated. The victim's rights? Well that's just too damn bad. They must have been in the wrong place at the wrong time. 25 years maximum for taking someone's life? Ridiculous! Out in 10? Now that's criminal. Our justice system is a joke and needs to be overhauled, starting with the judges. The bad guys don't have any respect for the law because the penalties are so lax. Time to change that. I hope you don't think that our justice system is adequate, it's not.
Well, I'm not talking about you though. The fact is that a lot of people think our justice system (like our healthcare) is in shambles but the truth is it works really well. We live in a peaceful and law abiding society. We aren't being over run with crime or criminals despite all the claims that a lax penal system leads to that very thing.
The same arguments are made the world over. They said the same thing in Australia when I lived there and in the UK. Hell the UK seems tio be in the news a lot for bone head judge decisions. The bottom line should be will these make our society better or will they just raise our taxes.
