Good on 'em!!

It's time Canada returned to some of her more humanitarian traditions instead of imitating the yanks all the time, which is all these Tory pigs are able to do.

Send him back.

If he didn't believe in the war why did he VOLUNTEER for the armed services?

He was young, naive, and believed the lies. Now he knows better.

He should be allowed to stay, in the best Canadian tradition.

You remember that, right?

$1:
In 1996, Khadr was arrested in Pakistan on suspicion of financing the bombing of the Egyptian Embassy in Islamabad. His arrest, which coincided with a Team Canada trade visit, was raised by former prime minister Jean Chrétien during a meeting with Pakistan's leader.

Khadr was released a short time later.

We never did hear why Chretien saved him.
What did Chretien get out of it?

Sorry. back to the topic...
:D

Maybe Sweden will take him?

Anyway, back to something resembling the topic instead of whatever Ridenrain is yarking about...

It's great that the Liberals are backing war resistors now. I kind of wonder where they were in 2005 when they actually had some power to do something, but what the hell, every little bit counts now.

The main problem I see with war resistors now is that unlike the draft era of the vietnam era these people joined up willingly with their eyes open. Now its true that alot of Iraq/Afghanistan supporters have had their eyes opended but quite frankly they need to stand up for their convictions and defend their choices. If they want to make a stand and a statement then do it right. Ali went to jail for his convictions and alot of others endured alot worse for theirs.

In the end they might do time but the respect for standing up for ones principles will last them a lifetime as will the shame of running away.

Paint a yellow stripe on his back and send him home to face the music. He signed up to serve his country, and then decided to run away from the commitment.

Young, niave and joins one of the most 'kick arse' regiments in the US Army, the 82nd Airborne? Doesn't make any sense Streaker.

Whats so great about it Rev?

Personally I could see the point of helping guys out who were dodging the draft as in 'Nam but this is totally different.

This guy freely enlisted into an elite airborne division, not the catering corps or as a medic.

He joined up to be an airborne warrior in the 82nd Airborne, what did he think he was going to do?

He is a deserter and deserves to be held accountable for failing to meet the commitment he freely chose to make to his country.

Really, I can't see how we can justify supporting this guy and it alludes to a lack of ethics from Bob Rae. I expect losers like streaker with his white poppy to back this guy up but I did expect better from the Liberals on this.

Is it totally different? They were lied to about the war, the war itself did not adhere to international law, and the US government has been treating veterans poorly when they return. Why the hell should anybody put up with that?
