http://www.cbc.ca/canada/montreal/story ... versy.html

$1:
Quebec politicians and organizers of the Quebec Winter Carnival are up in arms about an explosive cover story in the latest issue of Maclean's magazine that declares the province the most corrupt in Canada.

The Oct. 4 edition of the magazine also depicts the iconic figure Bonhomme Carnaval carrying a suitcase overflowing with cash.

Two accompanying articles inside explore the question of why so many political scandals seem to happen in Quebec, from the current controversy involving judicial appointments to the patronage days of former premier Maurice Duplessis.

"As politicians and experts from every facet of the political spectrum told Maclean's, the history of corruption is sufficiently long and deep in Quebec that it has bred a culture of mistrust of the political class," writes Martin Patriquin in the article.......

Is anyone really surprized, including residents of Quebec?

I can't argue with that, current prime is a national shame.
But do you know what's the worst part? We have no choice to vote for him. Because other options include are "PQ", "ADQ" and "Québec Solidaire". The "PQ" is the second biggest party, but it's a souverainist one with piss poor leadership. The "ADQ" is a right wing party with shitty ideas and terrible, terrible leadership. And the "Quebec Solidaire" party is a young, left-wing party with good ideas, correct leadership (at least, until recently, when one of the two chief became kind of like an inquisitor) and it's also a souverainist party.

In other words, we are kind of fucked. In the short term, at least.

Heard in passing.

Quebec: You want answers?
Canada: I think I'm entitled.

Canada I want the truth!

True, maybe ROC are just better at hiding it lol. Although BC has not fared well themselves historically.

Lol, just about everyone in Quebec is suing or demanding excuses from Maclean's.

And that include the dudes who are in charge of the "Festival de Québec" (because of The Bonhomme Carnaval) and the Prime Minister itself (which takes balls, because, well, almost everything in this issue is true...) Then, you have, of course, the leader of the Bloc, etc, etc.

In the Québec City newspaper yesterday, they call it Québec bashing.
I consider it more politician bashing... which we should do a lot more of... when it's deserved, of course. :D

"We demand that you take back what you have said about our proud, beautiful and prosperous province! Such slander will not go unnoticed, nor unpunished! We would be happy to produce evidence to the contrary from our own department but we lost most of our documents in the recent move, and those were the survivors of an accidental office blaze restricted to our records room, which were the remaining documents from a flooding of our off-site storage when a series of pipes burst, which were the ones which were on paper after the mysterious mass server crash, which ..."

Really? How is a true article Quebec bashing? That's like me calling it Alberta bashing if someone points out that this province is more conservative than the ROC...

I'm not suing or complaining, I'm just moving back to the hometown. See yeah QC it was a pleasure, most of the time but when the buraucracy sucked it REALLY sucked.

The fact is that I completly agree with that article, and probably that most of the people agree too. What I meant is that, nationalist figures AND provincial government (they dare!) AND some media figures jump on that wagon.

But seriously, that article was right on.

We need a change in the government, an alternative to PLQ, PQ and ADQ.
