I am sorry but how did she get into Canada...and if she was a Mexican immigrant because if she noticed most cons dont like immigrants...regardless of what country they come from...so i feel she may have been fed some info because of her status. You never know maybe she will hook up with a good immigrant society and a liberal, NDP, Green or even Marijuana party will get her vote...remember it isnt like the states...its anonymous

Anyway, Palin is a great choice.
She is a conservative, which will help the Republican base get enthusiastic.

and yes, she will pound for every Hillary voter she can find, and i think there are quite a few out there.

Yeah she will. People will vote for her because she is a woman. As sad as it sounds, it doesn't make it less true.

They may be very different, but i'm betting there are still a lot of pissed
off Hillary people out there, including a lot of women who will at least take
another look at the situation.

I guess we will find that out in November :)

Say martin14, they are called PUMA's (Party Unity My Ass)

http://pumaparty.com/forum

There are many PUMA forums out there and you can see for yourself what ex-Hillary voters are saying.

Lots feel the DNC was very sexist for not picking Hillary and treating her the way they did.

They're also idiots. Palin is an anti-abortion evangelical; that will negate most of the PUMA's who think Clinton was the better candidate.

No she is not an anti-abortionist. She believes in the right to life as I do on a personal level, but feels it's wrong to impose her values onto others.

She has already made it clear in her past political speeches, "anti-abortion" laws she be dictated by each individual state and not at a Federal level.

-------------------------------------------------

CNN) – Hillary Clinton praised the historic nature of John McCain’s vice presidential selection in a brief statement released Friday that was eagerly anticipated by both presidential campaigns.

“We should all be proud of Governor Sarah Palin’s historic nomination, and I congratulate her and Senator McCain,” Clinton, the first woman to win a presidential primary, said in the statement. “While their policies would take America in the wrong direction, Governor Palin will add an important new voice to the debate.”

----------------------------------------------------

"Guess we will see what the people of the United States say in November, and everyone should be proud of who is picked for President, as it shows democracy at it's best and whom every wins will make history."

She will get some women's votes, just because she is a women, just like some African American's will vote for Obama just because he is black.

Is it enough to sway the vote in either direction for a win.

We will see in November.

Here's another thing. On the surface it seems a small thing, but I think it has larger implications.

The Democrats were coming off a high from the Democratic convention in Denver. They owned the media. They were looking invincible.

McCain totally stole their thunder with the Palin for VP announcement. It displayed a political savvy the democrats seem to lack. They should have seen it coming. They didn't. I think it displays arrogance, as well as political naivete on the Democrats part. They thought they were going to walk. McCain showed them it wasn't going to be that easy. They didn't even notice the hole they were opening up, by not putting Hilary on the ticket.

McCain showed once again he may not have the surface attraction Obama does, but he's the smarter politician. Playing the celebrity card early in the campaign was a clever move too. Now he can just mozy on over to the higher ground, and ignore celebrity influence. The negative pox of the celebrity thing is now seeded in the American sub-conscious. He doesn't have bother with it anymore.

Those votes will be offset by the people who won't vote for her becasue she's a woman and those that won't vote for Obama just becasue he's black.

Yeah, but who is at the top of the ticket. You're choice is ultimately between Obama and McCain.

lily lily:
As for Palin... one of the first things highlighted about her was her pro-life stance, and praise was heaped on her for not aborting her Down's baby.

I'm very pro-life. Abortion only in the event of a rape or the mothers life is in danger. Otherwise, no abortion.

What shocks me is some Dems are saying no matter what, no women should be President of the United States as it would make the USA look weak. (Bob Beckel Democratic Party operative) Image - insert foot in mouth.

I guess in a way he has a point.. barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen, that's where they all belong. Not making important decisions.

Did anyone really expect Hillary to be on the ticket?

Related note... does anyone ever select the person they campaigned against to be their running mate? Would they accept VP if asked?

Very rarely. Originally, the loser in the general election was to be the VP
