I'd guess that unionizing was against the temporary worker contract they signed in the first place.
hasta-la-vista.

That is sad that a workers right can be abused in that manner.

Temp or seasonal workers need more rights.

They are here legally, unlike most in the US, so they are getting paid good wages plus room and board How much does an employer have to pay out until the employees are happy?

Obviously these Mexicans haven't clued in that if the farm wanted to hire unionized labour than they might as well hire locally. They can save themselves from having to pay the airfare.

Mexicans were likely victims of the union, just looking for some union dues.

The local labour wasn't and isn't unionized either.

Both of you guys are correct in your opinion... however, union is not always about wages.

Unions help in a better and safer working environment.

I have seen some pretty shady outfits here in Alberta, that care less about the employees safety and more about money and greed.

That's about the stupidest comment I've ever heard. You ignoroids never cease to outdo yourselves.
You'll get to squawk if the Labour Board finds a clear violation, because there's instances like these where they can impose automatic certification without a vote.

Ever wonder why no Canadians will work there? Or even their own relatives who've been here long enough to know better?
We seem to have gone almost a whole season without a single rollover of a bald-tired van with no permit, an unlicensed driver and 14 farmworkers splattered on the road. Ask a cop or a paramedic. A lot of these farm owners are complete scum.

Brilliant post.... for a union knuckle-dragger...
I expect you will take unpaid time off the "work" you do,
to picket on behalf of these migrant farm workers...yes ?
Will all your buddies do the same....or are there enough unemployed
union members in B.C. to take on this noble cause ?
Solidarity time...you're not helping those brutalized workers
just posting hot air here...

I'm an employer, dork.
An NDP business owner.
I know it's a little hard to wrap you pre-cooked microwaveable black or white right-wing perceptions around.

Herbie: Would you bring in immigrant, temporary workers without a contract or knowing that the first thing they'd do is cause trouble to you're business?
No one made them come here.
