Yeah, Chretien and Martin were likely more corrupt, depending on how we define "corruption". They were responsible for money dollars disappearing. But Chretien and Martin lined the pockets of their cronies, not their own. Mulroney put the money in his own pocket, which makes him the sole DOUCHEBAG.

I disagree. I think that, while Mulroney is definately a scoundrel, he's also a whipping boy for left wing hate, left vulnerable because his party was trounced and vanquished. The Libs, through the CBC have waged a dedicated attack on his reputation and because the media is hostile, the only recourse he has is the courts.
Because of the party split, the new Conservative party didn't get that smear but now, with an election looming, they want to show old links so the stink of Mulroney becomes the smell on Harper.

Secondly A Prime Minister taking huge amounts of cash under the table from a con man is far more disgusting in most peoples mind than some flunky in the civil service lining his own pockets.
