Not that simple. Omar's dad was one of the bigger figures in the upper ranks of Al Qaeda and he had his entire family involved with them in support roles. Having said that, I have to admit I'm not sold on his conversion away from radicalism, but I'm a pessimist at heart and more than a little paranoid.

In many US states, his actions probably would be considered self-defence and some people would treat him as a 'hero', not unlike George Zimmerman.
