Ya, not enough Canadian movies about Canadian events. I think the Canadian Movie industry is improving and will continue to do so, but it needs to begin to tell real stories about real people, real historic events, and without overwhelming them with Fiction.

It was nice to finally see a movie that highlighted a piece of Canada's military history. But this was essentially a love story that was inconvenienced by a war. I hope that if and when they do a movie about vimy it is done a little better then this. More explanation about the people involved, why the battle had the outcome that it did etc. Hell we didn't even see Currie once in the whole damn movie. Basically they should think Band of Brothers and go from there. It highlighted battles, but also the people and what they went through. Then they would actually have something.

I haven't seen it yet, mostly due to this being a love story disguised as a war movie.
I think the only way to correct this trend of mixing mushy girlie crap into man movies is to arbitrarily start putting gratuitous violence into chick flicks.

To say the least! My son described it as a "chick flick" masquerading as a war movie!
