Umar is a very common Islamic name and the name of the guy who followed Mohammed.

Farouk is a very common Islamic name, it honours an early leader, Farouk the Great who was a follower of Mohammed.

Abdul is a common Islamic devotional name. These are all uber-Islamic names.

Simple stuff. I did Islamic studies at Manchester Poly for 2 years but this really is very basic.

I am not really too far one way. I just think tolerant muslims are around. Don't forget I have seen a lot of shit going on with extremist muslims in Holland. Theo van Gogh killed by one, a terroristgroup in Den Haag (The Hague), Pim Fortuyn, of whom everyone thought was killed by a muslim, which turned out to be a radical vegan.
So, I refuse to believe EVERY muslim is bad. They aren't. Extremists are, and we should be aware of that. We shouldn't ignore this. We should find out WHY he got a visa, how he got his bomb through customs and who he is/was involved with.

Modifying our way of traveling out of fear is just what terrorists want you to do. Fear them. If we would stop showing fear all over the media every-time something like this happens eventually they will get the idea that we are not easily scared.

Instead we just make life harder on ourselves every-time by ramping up security until we will all be flying in the nude. This is just getting silly.

I agree with you- partially. I think some of us are so accommodating that we ignore the bad within Islam.

Mainstream Islam places women firmly in a subordinate role. Gays are not tolerated. Women’s rights, as in what is now the norm in any western democracy is just too much for any Muslim state to handle. It's pretty easy to recruit the Islamic male hordes against women’s rights and gay marriage and the western decadence that promotes these rights.

Even the nice Muslim guy and his nice family down the street in Canada holds these views.

You don't just have to be muslim to hold those views... I mean, NY State just recently voted against gay marriage. Women still don't earn the same as men, are still the ones to look after the kids because "they are supposed to" and are still supposed to be "in the kitchen". Western women just don't wear burqa's, but the nuns do, in name of their lord... 50 years ago, women who got married were fired from their jobs, because they were supposed to be home, raise babies and take care of their husbands. There are still a lot of people who think like that.
