Is it illegal to display a swastika?

No, but it is in very poor taste. Or it might be a "hate crime", whatever that means. I'm fine with the police investigating to find out if there is a legitimate threat, but I doubt anything will come of it.

It is illegal in Germany, but not in Canada. Makes one wonder.

Hitler fills the same role in a secular society that Satan filled in a Christian one. Merely mentioing his name in mixed company is considered vulgar, and and any visible signs of professing his beliefs are sacrilege. A good percentage that would gladly march this guy to the village stockade would also gladly march Jews (or the "untouchable caste" du jour) to the nearest labour camp. Interesting, really.

Maybe today's Germany has a specific reason for banning the swastika that is unique to its past, cultural formation and historical awareness. Maybe that's fucking why

lol. I'm guessing this is a comic fan, and would serve a fantastic bait for the Human Rights inquisitions.

The swastika has become associated with evil, only in the context of European societies. They are everywhere here in Taiwan, being a traditional Buddhist symbol(the wheel/universe/creation turning). I frequently eat at a restaurant that has several large swastikas on its sign. That merely indicates the establishment is vegetarian.
