ASLplease ASLplease: I dont care if I am sober and have nothing to worry about. I dont want the police pulling me over without justification. I want them to do their jobs, not become public nuesance number 1. By all means, run the next counter attack road check, internet hero....

BartSimpson BartSimpson: Just an observation: The people who seem to be most in favor of having the police conduct random sobriety checks of drivers because the 'safety of the many outweighs the rights of the few' are, curiously enough, arguing against that very same principle when I say we should keep Muslims off of airplanes. I'm NOT starting the Muslim thing here, we already have a thread on that, but I'm using it to illustrate that if you invoke this principle to justify going after drunk drivers that it will lead to that principle being used in ways you may not like. Yours is race based. No brown people on the plane.

ASLplease ASLplease: ok, I admit that your spelling and grammar on this internet forum is better than my spelling and grammar on this internet forum. Somehow, I think I'm supposed to feel depressed about this, but guess what? I don't, because it is likee arguing which one of us is classier based on the color of the wine we drink with our tuna sandwiches. No, you shouldn't feel at all depressed. You are probably more educated than me. I left school at 16 1/2 to join the military. They beat, I mean guided me on the importance of grammar, spelling etc. I'm not being snobby and I'm about as working-class born of white-poor as they come. I'm just a product of my environment mate. Ooo rah.

We should just ban people from flights, how about that? We already screen the innocent on airports, so there is no reason to ban anyone based on religion, race, gender, or sexual preference. The only ones we should ban from flying, are people who test positive, just like we should take everybody off the road who tests positive. So, with your logic, we should give everybody a sobriety test before they get into the car. Zing!

Brenda Brenda: We should just ban people from flights, how about that? Ever hear of the 'No fly' list? It's already being done. Brenda Brenda: We already screen the innocent on airports, so there is no reason to ban anyone based on religion, race, gender, or sexual preference. The only ones we should ban from flying, are people who test positive, just like we should take everybody off the road who tests positive. That's the thing...test positive for what? We were searching people who boarded planes and that didn't stop 9/11, did it? Now we do all sorts of searches and nonsense but the fact of the matter is that all it takes is for some Muslims to get creative again like they did last time and find a way to loophole the searches. Brenda Brenda: So, with your logic, we should give everybody a sobriety test before they get into the car. MADD is proposing exactly that in Canada. They want everyone to have a so-called 'interlock' device on their car that requires them to prove they're not drunk before the car starts. So far, your Parliament is considering the idea as mandatory for anyone ever convicted of a drunk driving offense or of being publicly intoxicated.

BartSimpson BartSimpson: Brenda Brenda: We should just ban people from flights, how about that? Ever hear of the 'No fly' list? It's already being done. People get probation for DUI, "No Drive List". $1: Brenda Brenda: We already screen the innocent on airports, so there is no reason to ban anyone based on religion, race, gender, or sexual preference. Now we do all sorts of searches and nonsense but the fact of the matter is that all it takes is for some Muslims to get creative again like they did last time and find a way to loophole the searches. We ARE using breathalyzers, yet that doesn't stop people from being killed by drunk drivers. $1: Brenda Brenda: So, with your logic, we should give everybody a sobriety test before they get into the car. What about the innocent people (like the ones we screen at the airport now)? I have no objection, btw.

This story originated in BC, it seems police in Newfoundland and Labrador will be able to pull over drivers without having to give a reason beginning Friday. It seems all the questions raised here were also brought up on the East coast, but the act comes into effect tomorrow. N.L. police need no reason to stop drivers

I think you would find that we would get along just fine. Although I use logic and science in my daily job, i dont have much of a stomach for most theory unless there is a real world application for it. This easily makes me more of a mechanic than a scientist. more of a problem solver than a creator. education does not equal inteligence. I've worked with people that have years of excellent education yet they lack basic common sense thats needed to guide that education, a basic commone sense that you've demonstrated on this forum ( except for when it comes to the gun registry ).
