This is why our law is based on secular principles that came from 18th century philosophy ... which came from the Socratic dialogues.

Anyone can believe what they want, but the law must be based on science and reason.

Good point about the law!
Religions... I guess one does not get much choice when comparing a Bronze Age with a Medieval religion!

Just goes to show most Christians worship a book they haven't even read and as for the rest, it might not be law but it has great influence on it, specially in the US.

Christians do not worship the Bible. That's just silly to even say such a thing.

Catholics generally do not study the Bible. It is not true of practicing Protestants most of whom engage in Bible study all of their lives. This difference between Catholics and Protestants is rooted in the debate over a principle called Sola Scriptura. The Catholic response in this issue is to insist that knowledge of Scripture is not needed for salvation.

My wife these past nine years has been doing the women's Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) series and complementing that study with two summer women's Bible study groups. Myself, I attend a men's Bible study most every Saturday morning.

Well, while younger I was quite involved in Bible Study groups. As a a teenager I even contemplated becoming a minister. The problem was the more I read it, the more I came to understand that mainstream Christianity was a crock and eventually to the point now where I see all organized religion as BS. It began with my rejection of most of the tenets of Calvinism I had grown up with, beginning with predestination, and then to the rejection of the trinitarianism of main stream Christianity. It went against everything Christ proclaimed. Mark 12:28-29 'And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all?
And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord'

Judaism borrowed from its pagan roots, Christianity cherry picked from Judaism and other religions and Islam plagiarized, and rewrote excerpts from the New and Old Testaments, while adding some newer stuff. I'm at best a hopeful agnostic, meaning I hope there is something 'more' out there, but I have my (strong) doubts that its like anything we can envision.

I fell away for quite a spell and even now while I attend Bible study I'm not able to call myself a Christian anymore. I have more in common with Old Testament Jews than I do with New Testament Christians.

I have no doubt of the existence of God because He's acted in my life and I've seen it. But I'm not so committed to mainstream organized Christianity.

As to the Dutch hipster kids video the CBC was pushing in the OP, I saw something similar done a year ago from the other side.
