Will the $100,000 to Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue, a new inshore rescue boat station, and a new hovercraft be enough to make up for the loss of the other?
Extra 20 min trip to get from Richmond up to the Inner Harbour.
That hovercraft better be a fast one.

Canadian Coast Guard Station Sea Island Richmond,British Columbia
The Canadian Coast Guard maintains 24-hour availability at its Sea Island hovercraft base in Richmond, British Columbia by using two craft in tandem. The older of the two craft, CCG Penac, is scheduled for replacement in a 5-year $27.3 million program. Upon entering service, the new hovercraft will take over as the primary Search and Rescue response unit and the current primary hovercraft, CCG Siyay, will become the back-up.
The extra 20 minutes(?) is great in good weather, but what about in a major West Coast storm? One of the boats could easily be 20 miles up the Fraser river, with the other on another emergency call, there goes your "20 minute" time differential!! And if the emergency is up in say Indian arm, your best bet is to just hope to Hell there are some private vessels close by which could give some assistance! To close the Kits station is nothing less than a case of total stupidity, which doesn't surprise me in the least....
