Guy_Fawkes Guy_Fawkes: PublicAnimalNo9 PublicAnimalNo9: Right, cuz a kick in the face that could cause brain damage or snap the kid's neck is much better. Yeah, much better than a taser Come on, you know as well as I do, a boot to the face is the way a man deals with an 11 year old with a knife. Tasers are for pussies! That officer should have opened up a can of w00p a$$ and got in nice and personal! Get some![/sarcasm] It's much to easy to sit back and play armchair general. He may have made a mistake he may have done the right thing, we cant tell because we do not have enough information. What we do know is the kid stabbed someone, and then exited his hiding spot holding the knife. If I had the choice of getting stabbed by this kid or shocking the crap out of him you know he'd be doing the floppy chicken on the ground.

It's so funny that kids (ages of 11-20) are some of the most violent people on the globe, and yet when we protect ourselves, or them, from themselves, all hell breaks loose.
Head tattooed angry, drunken yobs outside of a football stadium clashing with police, MS-13 gangmembers killing innocents, pirates in Somalia, Youth Militias in Ivory Coast, or murderous Neo Nazis and Caucus gangs in Moscow all have one thing in common, most are under 20.
Go ahead, zap 'em.
Shit, I'll give the cop my USB cable to charge his taser when done, so he can zap 'em some more.

We dont even know what kind of knife the kid used? Was it a steak knife, butcher knife or a bowie knife? I would assume that it was more in the bowie knife area, but we dont have enough information to make a solid judgement.

just too many cops. we need about two-thirds of the cops we have now, one half of the other various enforcement agencies and a third of the rent-a-cops.

Smacle Smacle: Haha yea shoot a kid, see if you ever work in Canada again. What you actually do is shoot a kid in another country, then get asylum in Canada.

Smacle Smacle: HAhaha, I like how people are backing the cops. I don't care if a child is armed with a knife or not. The fact that there is likely more than 1 cop, the cop is wearing a vest, has hand to hand training, and is at least more than 2 or 3 times the size of this 11 year old kid means that reasonable force was not used to de-escalate the situation. This is a text book example of what NOT to do.
Much like the situation in the Vancouver air port where there was 6 cops surrounding a guy with his hand up in submition and they still decided to taser him which caused his death.
Use your training and grow some balls RCMP. Your job is dangerous and you volunteered for it so take some fucking responsibility for your actions. It's not like those officers could have families dependent on them at home. I'll take a dead knife wielding attempted homicidal kid over a dead police officer any day.

Police need to understand that their job is dangerous but that doesn't give them the excuse to use excessive force against children. You put on a uniform and leave your family to deal with what ever the world throws at you, VOLUNTARILY. If that's what they are worried about then maybe they should try looking for a new job, maybe at a creamery. They are supposed to be professionals trained to handle situations 100x worse than this with due diligence. They can't even wrestle a panicked child to the ground... this speaks volumes for the RCMP.

I think people keep hearing 11 year old and they wonder why a police officer would use force. 11 year old kids today can be pretty big and pretty nasty.

Police understand their job is dangerous. The public needs to understand they aren't here as cannon fodder. If there is a way for everybody to walk away without injury than that's what should happen. There is a very simple solution if this "child" wants to avoid getting tased again. Don't stab someone and then walk out with a knife in your hand.

What I wonder about is why the 11 year old stabbed a 37 year old (who apparently could not get him under control). My daughter is 11, all her friends and classmates are 11, and there is no way in hell they would get the chance to stab me.
So besides the cops, who was that man and what had he done to the kid that drove him that far?

There's also no reason to believe he did nothing... Mentally healthy 11 year olds don't go around stabbing people for no reason. Especially not men who could be their dad, uncle or friend of their parents.
