Curtman Curtman:
The security council is the only thing the U.S. has veto over. Dangling impossible carrots in front of Palestinians won't bring peace.

Exactly. Welcome to UN 101. The General Assembly is basically powerless, and the United Nations can't exactly enforce anything without Security Council approval. Last I checked, that will never happen.

So again, why should Israel pull back to the pre-67 borders? Realpolitik time. What would make it in Israel's best interest to pull its forces back from the Golan Heights, for example?

Because it still pretends to support a two state solution, not a three state solution.

Do you have any argument at all? If I was the Israeli Prime Minister, please, convince me why I should pull my military and my settlers back to pre-67 borders, which includes pulling out of the Golan Heights and Jerusalem.

So far, the Palestinians under Abbas has not negotiated with Israel, and the last unilateral pullout by Israel to the pre-67 borders ended with the mess with Hamas in Gaza. Why should Israel sacrifice its security and the current status quo (which is seemingly going well for Israel, considering the West Bank is relatively quiet, Israel can effectively defend itself against Hamas from Gaza, and it's able to further secure territory through settlement expansion and further completion of the border wall) for nothing but talk from Western liberals?

If you're the Israeli PM, that would be a waste a time. You won't even stop expansionist policies and respect your own moving target of a border. You're a war monger.

You didn't even try, Curt. That's why your posts are ridiculed.

Am I the only one that thinks that peace between Israel and Palestine would be so much simpler if certain, outside influences were removed?

On an emotional level, I have got some serious sympathy for the Palestinians. I sometimes wonder if they feel as much like pawns as they look? I also wonder why they continue to support factions that will talk big, but let Palestine take the brunt of the response? Ah well.
