Using a single square is probably possible, unless you're sick. I'd say, the best thing to do is to use as little paper as possible, but use enough for your ass to actually be clean - if it's one square, good, if it's 10, so be it, if it's 50, eat less fibers.

Most of the rest of the world uses squat toilets and no toilet paper at all. Bidets are much more sanitary and healthy than toilet paper.
