Agreed that the marijuana provisions are abusrd and unnecessary. Also, the data shows that locking up young offenders for longer periods actually makes them LESS likely to reform and MORE likely to become lifetime offenders. Eliminating house arrest for property crimes is also unnessary waste of resources and will just turn petty thieves into hardcore prison gang members who will be a far greater threat to the public when they get out of prison.
Who said they're getting out.
Although I do agree with you about the marijuana provisions, but on the other hand I can see why they're putting them in place.
I'm pretty sure that the Gov't would have left the marijuana laws alone if they could have come up with a viable alternative to shutting down gang owned and operated grow shows.
The problem is you don't know who's working for themselves and who's working for the gangs and I guess they figured that if you were growing for yourself, 5 plants would be enough to keep youg going.
In this situation it's kind of a damned if you do damned if you don't scenario.
