I know for a fact that Sweden does & has been working very hard towards equality for it's citizens..... starting with the young children .... i.e. in daycare both genders are being taught to respect each other.
The Swedish Curriculum (grade school) gives children the opportunity to learn to eliminate inequalities and promote gender equality. As a parent in Sweden, I know & have seen this with my own 2 kids.
I tell you it's refreshing to see fathers taking time away from work, to be with their child (not that i'm saying it's not occurring anywhere else in the world) ... but only in Sweden, that I know of does the gov. give Parental leave like no other country.
Parental leave facts
- Parental benefit in connection with childbirth is provided for a total of 480 days per child.
- Sixty days are reserved for the father and 60 for the mother. The rest can be shared freely.
- 390 days are paid at 80 percent of the parent’s income, up to a given ceiling.
- The remaining 90 days are at a set daily rate.
- In addition, fathers are entitled to 10 days of paid leave when the child is born. About 80 percent of fathers take advantage of this benefit.
Did you know that Sweden is one of the biggest exporters of music in the world?
