adahen adahen:
The goal of equality starts young: "Anti-Sexism Awareness Training" begins in kindergarten, where male toddlers are encouraged to play with dolls, and females with toy tractors. In school, classes in cooking, sewing, metalworking, and woodworking are compulsory for both sexes. All education, including college, is free, and girls routinely outperform boys; in 2005, women made up more than 60 percent of all Swedish college students. All this adds up to more flexible gender roles later: As one Swedish Website puts it, "In our country, women drive the buses and men push the baby buggies."

Need I say more? :D

Now the joke I heard about Sweden is perfectly clear.

Why does everyone feel sorry for the woman in Sweden?

Because all the men are gay.

Intelligent people tend to be less religious. That is a fact. The closest we can achieve part of this way of enlightened thinking is by obviously voting in the NDP.Maybe in 1000 years we will reach their heights of achievements.?? I am Canadian But think like a Swede

In particular, it shall be incumbent upon the public administration to secure the right to work, housing and education, and to promote social care and social security and a good living environment.

Screw that. I don't need a bunch of bureaucrats to babysit me all of my life.

The best place in the world for a woman to live is Sweden.

Then youre more than welcome to move... fact Im sure MANY of the members here would be MORE than happy to help pay your way. See what happens there when you find something to bitch about..

Where's the sign up sheet  Adahen I'm unclear about why you even stay in this country. Frankly I don't want Canadian men acting like little bitches. Canadian women have every opportunity available to them equal to that of any man. You have to choose to exercise that opportunity, sitting on your ass blaming Canada and men won't get that done. You always like to point to sexism yet you are the first one to jump on her soap box when a woman chooses to take pleasure in her femininity. Face it Adahen you want to be something you currently are not. Rather than get off your ass and making that happen, it's someone elses fault. What you choose to call intelligent and enlightenment, I call lazy and self pity.

Middle class and rich people tend not to support the NDP. That is a fact. I don't think spending 1000 years aspiring to poverty is a good way to spend our time.

Ah, Socialism, everybody poor, equally. People seem to forget that it is much easier to push people down than it is to give them a hand up.

I know for a fact that Sweden does & has been working very hard towards equality for it's citizens..... starting with the young children .... i.e. in daycare both genders are being taught to respect each other.

The Swedish Curriculum (grade school) gives children the opportunity to learn to eliminate inequalities and promote gender equality. As a parent in Sweden, I know & have seen this with my own 2 kids.

I tell you it's refreshing to see fathers taking time away from work, to be with their child (not that i'm saying it's not occurring anywhere else in the world) ... but only in Sweden, that I know of does the gov. give Parental leave like no other country.

Parental leave facts

- Parental benefit in connection with childbirth is provided for a total of 480 days per child.
- Sixty days are reserved for the father and 60 for the mother. The rest can be shared freely.
- 390 days are paid at 80 percent of the parent’s income, up to a given ceiling.
- The remaining 90 days are at a set daily rate.
- In addition, fathers are entitled to 10 days of paid leave when the child is born. About 80 percent of fathers take advantage of this benefit.

Did you know that Sweden is one of the biggest exporters of music in the world?
