Sounds like this man can only claim to be inconvenianced instead of prejudiced against since the dealer's got some sort of non-compete clause (?) worked out with his parent company (?). Okay, so you can't get a Lexus for $20,000.00 cheaper. Big deal... that's life.

This is the reason why I will never buy a new car in Canada, we are screwed six ways from Sunday by the auto companies, yet people keep on bending over and taking it by buying new vehicles at inflated prices.

Ripping off consumers should be illegal.

Well that isn't the case today... our currency is much more powerful now, prices should be reflecting that new reality.

Not only that, the delivery charge is usually half in the states as what they charge us here. Even when it's made here.

You pay more because of taxes, import duties (yes cars even made here go to the U.S.A. then get sent back up), and the fact Canada is a smaller market. Also auto workers here have high wages so you get to pay for them.

I think you're talking out your ass dude. I've sent a few letters to automakers and the same response I get back is: the prices are higher because the market will bear it. Some models of trucks have a difference of over 8k between here and the U.S., and these prices are calculated before you even add tax.

I'm just telling you what GM told me in a letter, same with Toyota. They set their prices based on what they think they can get. As long as Canadians keep buying them they'll stay high.

I bought my Duramax here in Canada and it has a sticker on it said proudly made in America.Michigan to be exact.

Our workers may be paid higher wages here, but that is easily offset by reduced benefits expenses (free national health care and all that).
