Their female staff is either so young you wouldn't be able to tell if they're wearing a bra or not or so old you'd want to be spared the sight...

rickc rickc: CharlesAnthony CharlesAnthony: " Son, stay clear of women who fight the most basic principles of economics. Let other men learn them." $1: "It was absurd," she said. "Why do you get to dictate what's underneath my clothes?" " --because I sign your paycheck." I am sorry but that does not cut it. They may be able to tell her what uniform she is required to wear, but they have no say whatsoever in what she wears underneath that uniform. How far are we willing to take this? Do they get to dictate what type of underwear as well? Do they get to require granny panties over thongs, or bikinis? Do we have to submit to underwear inspections just because someone signs our paychecks? I think not. I remember when women were required to wear pantyhose on the job. They were expensive and delicate. They practically got a run in them if you looked at them wrong. I can't remember the last time that I seen a pair of pantyhose. Airlines used to dictate what make up female flight attendants had to wear. Law suits put a stop to that. Anyone can type up a memo or hang a sign on a wall. Policy does not trump law. I remember when I was a kid that underwear was apart of the uniform and it was inspected (you had to lift your dress to prove you had the full uniform on). Really thought that was a thing of the past. No ones business but your own what underwear you do or do not wear.

Well, unless you're a Scot, then lifting the kilt to show you are a traditional becomes a problem. You think Sikhs wearing turbines created a stir...

If someone was making my underage daughter lift her dress at work, there would be several people in jail. One: me for felonious assault/attempted murder. Two: when the facts of what was actually going on became public, I am sure that some people in management of that establishment would be going away for a while as well. No (sane) jury would convict me.

Mowich Mowich: I've always hated wearing a bra but that didn't stop me from realizing that by not wearing one, I am simply leaving myself open to having my nipples exposed depending on the garment I am wearing. Not being an exhibitionist, I chose discomfort over exposure. I have it on good advice that girls today can get a special kind of stick-on patch especially meant to cover up nipples when they go bra-less or apparently some might just use band-aids.

Don't forget Andrew Weaver's biggie (before this whole pipeline thing) a private member bill that was immediately supported and passed by our female Premier (Clark) that changed labour laws so they couldn't force women to wear high heels. Rules change, your employer hires you for your labour.

Some rules do not change. I can respect the sacrifice Sharian women make by covering themselves in public and avoiding such vulgar provocations.

Step 1: if the employer requires them to wear a bra, they should PAY for the bra.

I don't think you're right. The uniform requirements are there to make their employees look a certain way. If a male employee wore a bright neon shirt under his McDonald's uniform saying "f*ck you" that showed through the uniform, he'd be required to take off that undershirt too. Same for people with obscene tattoos. Your place of business gets to decide how you present yourself to the public on their time, in their place of business. If you don't want to look the part in their uniform, find 1 of the billion other jobs that don't require you dress a certain way.

See, this is where you're kind of funny because Sharia law as applied in some jurisdictions specifically PROHIBITS the wearing of a bra and therefore an observant Muslim woman working at the same McDonald's would not wear a bra. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-soma ... 4220091016

Kind of a boob burqa when you think about it. Women don't have to wear them. Heck, in BC it's legal to go topless. But they don't, because they don't like to feel exposed, or they are scared of not conforming, or they get harassed by men who assume their lack of a top is an invitation to sex. Same as the burqa really.
