Actor Russell Johnson, best known for his earnest turn as "the Professor" on the classic TV castaways sitcom Gilligan's Island, has died at the age of 89.
Johnson died at his Washington state home of natural causes, according to his agent, Michael Eisenstadt.

It's kinda funny. We were talking at work just yesterday about Gilligans Island and how the professor is one of the few cast members left (along with ginger and Mary Ann, who's going to be at the Van. Boat show)
RIP.

RIP! Loved that show at the time.
Saw Mary Ann on the Food Channel a few weeks ago. She was on "Chopped" and still looked in good health.

The Professor was always my favourite character on that show - at least until I discovered women...then it was Maryanne! Gotta love anyone who is hot and an awesome cook/baker!
