8O I'm an economics professor and a Libertarian. I call YOU the lefty, Lefty. You Cons and your $50B deficit can shampoo my crotch before you call ME the lefty. :)

Your crotch notwithstanding, do you have those links or are they just your slant on what he said?

Google them. I did and found some text, but I don't know if the sources are reputable enough to cite. Your Google search is gonna send you to the same places mine did. Or, you could always request the video from the Fraser Institute.

Start by reading the speech he gave at the Fraser Institute's 30th anniversary in 2004. Read his speech to the Alliance caucus at the 2001 leadership convention. You SHOULD hold your breath when you have nothing informed nor intelligent to add.

Old information viewed as right wing from a lefty.

I'm not holding my breath.

Who's the lefty? Well, I am left-handed.

Obama is too

.. ultra-right idealogue like Harper.

Can you list a couple of examples of Harper being an "ultr-right idealogue"? I won't hold my breath.

Yeah.. That's looking really weak. Go figure there.

Thinking back about the US election and all.. Iggy's 62 now. If he's elected in the next year or so, he's still the 7th oldest PM in Canada, just slightly ahead of Paul Martin at 65 and Chretien at 59. Talk about old white men.

Yogi Yogi:
Here's my prediction, whether we in fact do face an election this fall or we bide our time until the 'due date'.

Harper by a majority. Iggy & Co. as opposition and the other two stooges 'keeping on keeping on'.

How so? I can't see a majority for anyone as it stands until Quebec decides they are sick of the Bloc or Alberta decides they get sick of Harper. Neither are going to happen but let's cut the theater here, last time a Liberal leader tried to dance with Harper he was made a buffoon for always backing down, now they have one that is backed in a corner with no choice but to throw down. I could not see the liberals siding with Harper in the fall, maybe the NDP if Harper could convince his rank and file and that would only last a very short term. Now with the Bloc and Liberals calling for it outright we are going to the polls before xmas. The Bloc are holding their own, there is a little play but I can't see the French marching behind the NDP and what seats Harper could get will end up with the Bloc. BC will be going for Harper in a big way this election but what he gains there he will likely lose in Ontario so we are right back where we started. A mexican standoff but one Iggy has an even break at the PM seat and he knows he can swing a deal with the NDP if he needs to. It will be an ugly, dirty election and whoever doesn't try every trick in the book will be out of a job. Here hoping they all lose...

I now support the Liberals and the NDP joining together, as I don't think there will ever be a Majority ever again otherwise.

And as long as they campaign on that premise, they will never have my vote but will have my respect.

Conservative guru, Tom Flanagan, on the Harper election strategy--"“It doesn't have to be true. It just has to be plausible.” Don't be fooled by such cynical tactics

Remember the current "Conservative Party" is a re-named Reform Party. Once anyone substitutes the name it becomes apparent as to why they appear incapable of running a country with anything that remotely resembles "Vision".
Their only real claim to legitimacy is that they have elected representatives. Make no mistake, that is meaningful. Just look at other countries who struggle with the basic mechanics of electoral democracy such as Nigeria, Afghanistan and Lebanon. Even Italy, a long established democratic nation is the best example I know of the costs of fractured regional interests strangling decisive government.
But since the Reform Party has managed to (apparently) divest itself of its root identity in a bid to sell-out for the acceptance of Ontario and Ontario's reward of granting the Reform Party federal power, it has accomplished pitifully little.
Just once I would like to see Harper run on a platform of accomplishments rather than mud-slinging. Regardless, it is because of their non-record I cannot vote for them. They just don't have the ideological depth, discipline or professional expertise.

We should create an upset, and everybody vote for the NPD!

Why? Because, it would be damn funny to watch Harper and Iggy asking for wth is going on, lol

Our elect ME folks are busy with good guy bad guy media.
No differernt than in Canada.
Well, maybe.
People running for office who are new to the system are taking a novel tact.
Matter not their strip, they are making it clear.
I AM NOT A PART OF THE SAME OLE SAME OLE PARTY SYSTEM.
They do not wish to have anyone assoiate them with any party.
Within our sytem in the USA. It is nearly a kiss of death NOT to be part of either party. So all are forced to run on one side or the other.
But, all are saying they are staying at arms lenght from this or that party.
