OnTheIce OnTheIce:
I think the standout from last night way Elizabeth May. She did quite well. Maybe it's because we don't see her much but I think she did better than most.

I'll even admit that May did pretty good. However, I still don't see her as a legitimate contender in the long run.

OnTheIce OnTheIce:
I think Harper came off as his usual cold/robotic self but he was well prepared and weathered the storm. I don't think he did anything bad or good.

Cold and robotic works for him, though. His responses were measured and calm, and he seemed the best prepared for the debate. I had no doubt of his good showing.

OnTheIce OnTheIce:
Mulcair looked strange. It wasn't like Question Period. He couldn't get angry and he had to remain controlled. His smiles looked forced, like he was trying too hard.

Agreed. I thought he took a back seat to May in this one. His smiles were actually kind of scary, and he looked a bit spooked at certain points, like he knew he was the odd person out.

OnTheIce OnTheIce:
Justin looked and sounded like an amateur. The way he talks may be good for a speech at a University, but it was brutally controlled & slow. His final remarks were like watching paint dry and even the moderator cut him off cause he thought he was done.

Justin sounded like a little kid wanting his 15 seconds. He wouldn't listen to the moderator at times, and had some explaining to do when he was called out on a issue. His behaviour played right into Harper's hands.

Harper presented well, while the other three mainly focused on jumping on the Prime Minister. This goes to show why none of them are worthy of the top job at this time, and possibly not at all. Instead of telling Canadians why they and their party should run the country, they focused on schoolyard behaviour.

The next major debate should be interesting, especially if the old Bloc windbag is present. That should slow things down some :p

DrCaleb DrCaleb:

One thing that bothers me about public speakers is their use of words that have no meaning other than to say 'I'm not ready to speak, but I'm speaking anyhow'. "Ummm", "Aaaaaa", "Errrr"

Trudeau was quite liberal with these sounds. If anyone lost the debate, it was him.

His closing statements, the babbling about his love for Canada was just hilarious. He wants to lead Canada because he loves Canada, not because he loves power.

Silly way to end a debate.
