[huh]

Harper has been declared THE Prime Minister of Canada for the next FOUR YEARS!

Perhaps you would give us an explanation as to what your meaning of the word WINNER is!

Harper himself stated he will not be seeking to bring the government down any time soon. The Liberals are in no position to do so either at least for 2 years. Dion is out, plain and simple. He was a steward for the liberal party but the Liberal leadership is clearly headed for review and a harsher tone vs the greens will be adopted no matter who takes the reigns. The CPC only managed to gain 1% of the popular vote so the momentum is not because of a shift in the electorate but rather a shift to the Greens and NDP that caused the split to the CPC. At some point the progressive vote will need to settle once again on a party. Frankly the NDP has done well but they are now stretching to an area they are not able to hold for long. Sorry, but the NDP have zero chance of taking and holding Ontario and as long as that's a fact the NDP have no chance at forming the government.

I don't see a change in the vote split while Jack is in charge of the NDP though scape. The NDP has moved more mainstream and while there is a left leaning Liberal party, the NDP will take votes from the Libs, not the Tories. My election speculation was pretty bang on.

The dream tory scenario would be Bob Rae as Liberal leader. Iggy will cause the Tories problems.
Harper screwed this campaign up and still got more votes, be it only 1%, he still did better in bad circumstances, and added 18 seats. I don't imagine he will screw up the next election in 18 months time, if a confidence vote isn't tabled.

I bet every Tory Bill will be a confidence matter so we may be back sooner.

The NDP only got 1% though, it was the greens and the apathy vote that sank the Liberals. 6 months from now Harper is going to pass every vote as a confidence motion just to keep the opposition under raps. I think Iggy is going to be the next leader as Kennedy was the reason the Liberals ended up with Dion and Rae just has to much baggage to lead.
