This may have already been addressed in a previous thread but I haven't seen it as of yet. I was wondering how many people will vote based on strategy rather than voting for the party they'd like to see in power. For example, several friends of mine would prefer to vote NDP, but instead will vote Liberal on Monday as a vote against the Conservatives.
And I was also curious as to why so many former Liberal voters are changing their vote this election to cast a ballot in favour of the Conservatives. I understand that people are upset with the Liberals, but if you compare the parties election platforms, I would think that the NDP are closer in vision and values to the Liberal party than are the Conservatives. This suggests to me that the reason people are changing their vote to Conservative isn't because of Liberal scandals, but because they feel it is time for a change. But then I don't understand why people want change so badly. For instance, not only does Canada has the lowest unemployment rate it has experienced in decades, but also, of all the G8 coutries, our country (under the Liberals) has maintained the best overall economic performance.
I understand why people who are consistent Conservative supporters will vote for them in the upcoming election, but it defies logic to me why former Liberal supporters would cross over to the Conservatives as opposed to the NDP. Is it because people don't take them seriously?

Could it be because no one likes the NDP?

Because the CPC needs a majority to clean up Ottawa.

Stealing and cooking the books is a good thing then?
You are one of the blind.

Is it because people don't take them seriously? Your friends are astute observers of what the cons will do to this country.
I voted Liberal because in my riding the Liberals have a lock on it.
Now to be honest, if I had lived in a riding where strategic voting would have made sense, I'd rather vote for the NDP than give the cons the chance to sell us down the Mississippi river to Dubya and company.
The idiots that normally vote Liberal but are casting votes for cons this time around are the same ones that bitched about what Dalton did when he inherited a huge defecit from the Ontario cons party led by Harrass/Eves.
Bottom line is, the Liberals and NDP share much more in common and could work together than the cons could with any other party.
You and your friends made smart choices.

LOOK!!!!!!!!!! Rus made a point!!!!! He did not flame another poster in the process and said what he thought on a subject. Do I agree with him? Of course not, but it is very refreshing to see him make a point for a change.

There is no party that I would like to see form the government. I'll vote liberal or NDP because I would do anything to keep Pastor Harper from being Prime Minister......Liberals won in my riding last time, so since they have a better chance at winning than the NDP I'll probably vote Liberal....still undecided....
BTW, I would consider voting conservative if they had a different leader.....i.e. someone other than Satan.

that wasn't very nice. Seems to me that there is a majority of people that would sell their left foot to satan to keep Harper out of power, there's an obvious passion, for this. As far as stupid goes, all Ive seen any PC supporters do is be constantly rude to anyone that isn't PC, and let me tell you that really makes me not want to vote PC, in fact it makes me detest the party, whereas prior I was only a non PC supporter.

I think Buzz Hargrove is practicing strategic voting this year. He has also finished his disco lessons and almost mastered his Spirograph. His eight track player is giving him some trouble; playing slowly which makes the Bee Gees sound manly for the first time in history, confusing him and making him say nice things about the Bloc.

Well said.
The cons are extremely rude and offensive.
