Dion gained some ground in the second hour and Harper was attacked over anf over again. Non-francophone candidates seemed tired and had more problem expressing themselves and Dion and Duceppe took advantage of this.

Final score : ( out of 10 )

Harper 6,5 ( 4 against 1 not easy but held his own )
Dion 6,0 ( he was good especially in the second hour )
Layton 5,5 ( no more no less of what was expected )
Duceppe 4,5 ( no gain )
May 3,0 ( failure despite the efforts )

JoBec JoBec:
Harper attacked on all sides :

Layton was very impolite to Harper when the PM was searching for his words : EN FRANCAIS MONSIEUR EN FRANCAIS !! very very aggressive and gross !

Duceppe has one goal in this debate : not losing ground. So he's careful with interventions making them only in "hot" subjects" like culture.

Dion has gone from aggressive to passive and Lizbeth has vanished completely.

I completely agree that Harper has been attacked but since he is the current leader, that is understandable. Although, Harper has remained calm and diplomatic throughout this debate.

But everyone has to agree that it is the journalistic opinion following the debates that really matter. Although unfair, it is still the media that controls every aspect of the debate. Since they will choose the comments that will be mentioned and which will be omitted through several reports in the following days.

Pretty much the only thing that I have noticed is when Layton has directed his comments towards Duceppe on healthcare. I would have preferred to see more of this type of argument between the leaders other than to point solely on Harper. There seemed to be a lack of argumentative points directed towards all the other parties.

I'd give Harper more credit than that considering he had 4 of them focused on being against him. 7.5 in my books for Harper, 6 to 6.5 for Duceppe, Dion 5.5 to 6, Layton .... ??? I'm not sure what to make of him, I'm not sure if he realizes this stuff is for real because it seems like he's acting on a bad episode of Westwing, May shouldn't even be there.

Harper was poised? He couldn't even look people square in the eyes. He had no responses which contained any substance. He was not at all poised and did not answer questions to my satisfaction. He lied repeatedly and was called on it by every single person around that table. Look away, look down Harper...This is a man who has next to NO hope of forming a majority gov't and NOBODY WANTS TO WORK WITH HIM IF HE GETS A MINORITY GOV'T.

Quite apparent..

-Regards

If you don't want to give an objective answer don't bother responding.

You forget the fact that these people are against him because they worked with him and obviously that was not an enjoyable experience. Harper, man to call our own Bush clone.

Yes substance as you put it...7.5 6.5 5.5 4.5555 and a box of corn flakes

Of course it does but logic would dictate that you try and steal votes from the parties that most resemble your own. This did not happen. In most situations like this they will engage each other but what we saw here tonight was a UNITED opposition against the conservatives. Its much easier to sway a voter who is already standing on the boarder to your camp right? They are fully going after a party that truly represents something different entirely.

In case you haven't noticed most of the oposition parties with the exception of the NDP are pretty much down to their core supporter levels so there aren't many votes to steal. Why go fishing in the pond when you live next to the sea.

Aye 'stie. Tu n'as probablement rien compris du débat ce soir mais tu arrives ici avec des commentaires completement injustifiés.

You probably did not even understand a word throughout this debate yet take the time to post your biased opinion still. Troll. Make a constructive argument or get out.

That may have been the plan for the opposition parties because their all really trying to eat each others lunch, but Harper got in many good platform details and that's the sort of positive things that do win over soft voters from the other side.
