Perturbed, immigrants who come to Canada willingly adopt one of two cultures. Either they adopt English Heritage or French Heritage, but in both cases they are very aware that this is not American culture and most are willing to fight for it as much as you do.

I can't speak for Québec or federal politicians. I will say this though, actions speak for themselves and the Liberal rape this country has experienced during their reign is enough to make all of us sick. As a second generation sovereigntist, I have never wanted out as much as I do now.
Recent immigrants here have no shared experience. Some are great--I live in Toronto, more immigrants here than anywhere, so I live it every day.

That being said, when someone is homegrown, there's MUCH less of a question of their loyalty. Many immigrants eventually leave Canada for the U.S. or their original country. That is a waste of our time.

As for wanting out more than ever--grow up,. You're an adult, and you should know that globalization has affected everyone in the world, not just yourself.

Being selfish and whiny won't get you any sympathy--Europe is a very old place, and even they are being affected by globalization.

You can't run away from your problems and help anyone. Having no plan doesn't work. A separate Quebec would be a much less tolerant place, with new elites, and new bureaucrate--no better than the old ones.

Point being I've experienced both sides. In general, younger people are more open about things, but I've also met a number of people who are here for themselves, to better their lot and that's it. Canada isn't on the radar.

People should expect to be treated fairly, but growing up with knowledge of the history of Canada has to count for something, so I'm sticking to my dislike of globalism of all types--it's not fair to say you disagree with globalization but support globalization of people. You can't have it both ways.

My wish for a sovereign Québec goes beyond who's in Ottawa and how bad a job they're doing. All I'm saying is that I've never felt such an urgent need to get Québec out of it.

Globalization of people has been around since the dawn of civilization, there is no fighting it.
I read somewhere (wish I could remember where) that Québécers had the highest inter-racial marriage rate in Canada and the U.S. To me, that is a good and healthy sign of an open and pluralist society. It is the way of the future and we might as well ride with it instead of fighting it off.
I read something too about international adoption being the highest in Quebec. If I remember well, it was Chantal Hébert in the Toronto Star.

The highest rate of inter racial marriage in Canada is in Vancouver.

Hey Gaelic (at least the Scots version anyhow) is somewhat Canadian as there have been Scottish speakers in Cape Breton for centuries and they still number over ten thousand in some particular areas.
