Nice, I always liked EVE Online. Greatest space game but it's always the pay monthly that gets me. That and the very boring game-play you got to start with just to get money to get a decent ship.

I'd have to agree. I always wanted to play the game, but...paying monthly throws me off. I'd rather pay one big chunk, and be able to play forever. Sigh.

I quit Eve because it even though you can earn enough isk to by monthly extensions it was more work then play. I mean it looks cool but it's a really became a dry game after a while. Single player mining and Lv 4 mission running in high sec became a grind that I could play in the background while I watched TV. BORING. And even though the team/corp aspect of it is cool and all, (fleet battles can be awesome) they take a level of gaming beyond casual for me I was not willing to invest.

Guild wars is free if you don't want monthly but I don't see that gathering as much of a following as say WOW or Star Wars old republic will. I think the fee for play idea is something that isn't compulsory but that a large enough portion of players would want to spend some money on it to keep the network up and the patches flowing with new content. When you pay a fee you don't want the game to be stale and if you played wow when it 1st came out and then played it now you would know it is not the same experience and no way could something like WOW be created for 50$ at a local retail store the way it is now.
