The part about the buildings all being destructable is really cool, but it looks like such a arcady type game. I mean there is no reality in the game, some of the maneuvers they perform would have torn the wings off there jets. You can shoot down enemies in a single strike but it takes many hits before you can be taken down.

Also it seems the game-play is just going to be simular regarding fighting. Doesn't look like a game I would want to buy.

I think the big issue is that flight sims and consoles dont really go well together, it would probably be better on the computer. The last xbox flight sim game kind of suck.....a lot.

I just played the demo on PC (not having a joystick) and holy shit the controls were a bitch to get used to. I do agree that the more destructible environment is highly entertaining, though a bit lame since we weren't given fuel air bombs to test it. (Crashing into a few of the buildings showed it though)

I was checking the site for this game out a few days ago. Looks kewl but I've resigned myself to believing there will never be another good combat flight sim game so long as there are consoles out there. All the sim games seem to be made to play on a game pad (consoles) as opposed to a joystick.

Kind of sucks because I went out and spent a ton of cash on the x52 stick and petals a while ago but there really are no new games to use it with. I'm still playing combat flight sim 2 (never did like CFS3) and IL2.

I kind of wish they would make another mech warrior game one day too.

I was looking to get a new flight sim last week and couldn't find anything new for a PC. I have 5 or 6 of them but I don't think they'll work on my new computer because they're not comptible with Vista.

Isn't Falcon4 still going?

I agree with all. It looks like an arcade.
There simply isn't an big market for the high reality, high learning curve, simulators.

I have that one but I'm not sure it will work with Vista. I've been swapping everything over to my new computer and have only downloaded all the COD games so far. Falcon 4.0 is probably the most complicate flight sim on the market. It has ALL the bells and whistles.

Too much reality is the biggest part of the reason I'm still using CFS2 instead of CFS3. There needs to be a balance between how "real" it is and the playability. If you spend all you're time trying to keep the plane in the air while you're gettig nailed by your opponents it's not that much fun. CFS2 and IL2 were some of the last sims that had this balance but those came out how long ago? Luckily for me I'm still on XP because I doubt either of them are compatible with Vista.

Any who, HAWX still looks like it will be fun (as with most of the Clancy games) but I'm not expecting it to be a flight sim or anything even closely related.

I have both CFS1 and CFS2 but I never really liked #2 that much. If you can find Jane's Combat Simulatrions - WWII Fighters" pick it up. Runs with Windows 98 & 95 and is a great simulator.......actually better than any MSCFS and way better graphics. It wasn't that well known at the time but it was the best FS out there and you could go online with it as well.
I've heard about IL-2 but haven't seen or played it.

What games does it play like and can you give a few reasons you thought it was meh?

Obviously its copying off the Ace Combat series, but the one thing that annoyed me was this advanced mode which puts the camera way out behind your plane. I found it very disorientating especially since of one the demo levels made you fly like that. other than that, the game wasn't bad.

To be honest I haven't played a flight sim since Lawrence Hollands Battle of Britain and Secret weapons of the Luftwaffe. I have tried Microsoft's flight sim but they even discontinued that this year.
