$1:
For the first time, tuberculosis infections rivaled HIV/AIDS as a leading cause of death from infectious diseases, the World Health Organization said in a report released on Wednesday.

It found that during 2014, 1.1 million people died of TB in 2014. During the same period, HIV/AIDS killed 1.2 million people globally, including 400,000 who were infected with both HIV and TB.

Can we look at this as fewer people dying from AIDS/HIV, or an upswing in TB fatalities due to newer drug resistant strains?

It's got to be the latter. HIV/AIDS in the West is essentially "cured" not a death sentence anymore. But even in the West we're cooking up nasty TB strains in our homeless/street population, as well as importing them from other countries.

I saw a documentary a couple years back that pointed to Russian prisons as one of the worst. People get treatment for TB in prison (that they contracted in Prison), but can be released and in New York the next day still with active TB that is now partially drug resistant.

And TB is actually airborne, meaning that spores can float around in the air for 3 or 4 hours after someone coughs.

The resurgence of TB in the West is mostly due to Asian immigrants and especially the peasant Chinese who spit all the damn time.
