"If they had actually published a study that said, 'Boy, we remove saturated fat and replace vegetable oil and we actually kill people, that would've inhibited the [diet-heart hypothesis] movement, and I'm sure they knew that."

The truth is the truth, even if it sucks.

So I guess cooking with butter and olive oil is the way I should keep my diet. Good! Because there is nothing better as a treat than fresh bread with a little bit of olive oil for dipping. [drool]

I switched from margarine to butter about 20 years ago and despite the trendy advice of the dipshit doctors of the time my cholesterol numbers dropped, my blood sugar went from good to great, and my blood pressure went down noticeably.

Still, I had to keep hearing how bad natural butter was for me and why I should eat some shit that was literally cooked up in a place that resembled a fucking oil refinery.

Recent diet advice I heard: "If it is made of plant, eat it. If it was made in a plant, skip it."

YOu must have been eating an awful lot of margarine to have had such a dramatic effect. I'm not sure you're telling the whole story here. People on all sides of these diet questions seem to be prone to exaggeration.

That's true enough.

Had a similar experience as Bart. About 30 years ago went from marg to butter and cut out sugar in tea and coffee. Had my yearly blood analysis done recently, all levels are good.
