The exhibition games started Monday with Canada defeating Switzerland 8-0, then beat Sweden 4-1 earlier today. Canada's next game is against Finland on Thursday at 7:30 pm ET. The tournament starts on Sunday with Canada playing Russia at 4:00 pm ET, with the Gold Medal game being played at 7:30 pm ET on January 5th.

Yep, and I've officially labelled the Swedish team...The Hack Masters!!!!

The cowardly stick work they did in an exhibition game was atrocious.

My favourite tournament. I can't believe there's no thread for it yet.

So who's gonna win? Do the AMericans deserve to be favoured? Is it wrong to start drinking while I'm watching games at 930 in the morning?

Yep, I think the Americans deserve the "favourite" tag. They're reigning champs, they have eight (I think) returnees, and the tournament's in their backyard this time. But maybe being favourites will make their collars feel a little tight....

And I relish the fact that our Canucks will be underdogs for a change.

Should be a great tournament. It nearly always is.

...or the Devil's Coffee (coffee and a shot of dark Navy rum).

Being defending champions doesn't make the Yanks the favourites. Canada is ALWAYS the favourite to win this tournament. The Americans will quickly learn what we learned last year: there's added pressure being the host team. And don't count out the Russians. They have a lot of speed and really work like a team, reminiscent of the old Red Army teams of the 70s and 80s. Should be a great tournament as always.

3-3 end of the second. Canada getting most of the chances but poor D and bad goaltending. Makes me afraid if Canada gets the lead again. Canadas getting most of the chances, they're doing well offensively. Next time I'll countdown when Russians score again to tie.

Russia seems to be falling apart, taking 2 penalties in a row and giving up a PP goal on both of them....5-3 Canada

I was surprised at how wide-open the play was. But it was an entertaining game. And the good guys won.
