and the other Original Six teams usually do well. The point is that the Lockout hasn't hurt the fanbase too much.

Go ahead and deny it but it has hurt the NHL you will see when the numbers come out at the end of the eason. Remember what happened in baseball? The fans still have not fully come back and with hockeys fan base in just six to eight teams the overall revenue will be down......a lot.

It'll take a little time but will happen. Once the buzz starts around the water cooler & lunch rooms the excitement will start to build and draw more people in, especially if the new rules bring the faster game and greater excitement that they promised.

Well, when the usual teams sell out (And they will) it's just a monumant too how much the game of hockey is rooted in Canadian culture. Maybe it's not that popular in the US - it never has been despite the genius Gary Bettman's hopes and dreams - but that's irrelevent. The point is that the people who love hockey will not abandon her - and those that do should be drawn and quartered on the mainstreet for all too see.

Tickets in the south are cheap and plentiful. A bunch of us go down to play hockey in Tampa every spring and try to watch a game or two while there. The last time we saw them they played Montreal in the playoffs. We had two extra tickets, face value was around $120 each, right behind the Tampa net. We couldn't get rid of those for anything close to that on the day of the game. I think we got $50 each for them.

I figure if the Leafs played Tampa in the playoffs, it would be cheaper to hop on a West Jet flight to Tampa, get a couple of scalped tickets, a tan with all the extras ($20 dolla happy ending) than it would be to watch one in Toronto in a good seat.

Someone sent this to me quite some time ago but I couldn't find it till now. If you've spend any time in men's locker room, chances are you've heard a few of these lines. I think it's funny....

I watched the Sabre's / Lightning game tonight and it sure seemed like the Tampa arena was full. They said there was around 20K fans there. Looks like the Candian teams are packing them in. The Wild had a sell out against the Canucks last night and I think Fridays rematch is sold out too.

Carolina and Washington have both played home games in front of fewer than 12 000 fans. Then again, they were having attendance problems before the lockout.

The Blues also played for about 12 000 a few days ago. If memory serves me, its been a long time since they've had such low attendance. Maybe the weather was bad...

Hockey is finally back and so are the fans! It was a complete sell out tonight in Calgary's home opener/banner raising ceremonies against the Dallas Stars. Flames lost 3 - 2 in OT! [flag]

They are starting off where they left off last time....can't put the puck in the net in the first period. [hockey]

Attendance still doing fine in Canada, but it seems to me that it has been steadily falling in many US cities over the last week or so....
