Toronto Maple Leafs need to go 8-1 to have playoff chance
The Toronto Maple Leafs now trail the Tampa Bay Lightnening for the 8th and final playoff spot. The Leafs do have a game in hand on Tampa who they currently trail by 7 points so if they win that game will be 5 points back.

Now lets do the math if Tampa who has eight games remaining go .500 which would be 4-4 that would put them at 91 points the Leafs who currently have 76 points would need to go 8-1 in their final 9 games to finish with 92 points.

We still have to consider that Atlanta who is 2 points ahead of Toronto stumble along the way they also have 9 games remaining and with the above scenerio would need to go 7-2 to reach the 92 point plateau but Atlanta does play Tampa twice more before the season is up.

So as stated unless the Lightnening have a total collapse the Leafs will need to go 8-1 to make the playoffs.

As good as Ottawa is right now, I wouldn't bet so easily on the sens beating the leafs in the play-offs. If history has told us anything, its that the sens which are the better team, just fall apart. If by some miracle the leafs make it in and they end up playing the sens, and then trash the sens, I think it will be safe to say that the sens are cursed. Oh and I won't stop laughing for a year.

I was at the game last night and although they pounded Buffalo, I doubt it will happen again. Needless to say there's not a hope in hell they'll make it.

Granted, but in the past, we've won some against Toronto and Toronto has won some against us. And in the playoffs, we break.

This year however, Toronto has yet to beat us, so I'd bet that the sens could trash the leafs in this case.

My ideal playoff picture is one with all the Canadian teams BUT Toronto.

That way I won't be forced to watch Leaf games when I could watch someone else I like (which include all the other Canadian teams, yes even Vancouver). I would really love it if we could get some Sens games out here on the prairies...
