If you've ever wanted to become a cop now is the time. The RCMP is looking for upwards of 1000 recruits each year over five years. That's pretty good odds you can get in. I have to admit I had the boyhood dream of becoming a cop, I'm not sure I'd make a good one though as I'm kind of shy and that's not a good trait to have when your dealing with people all day. I just read an article on a Kelowna website and three people signed up for training and two are 39 and 43 respectively so their taking just about anyone who meets the minimum standards. It sure is a change from about ten years ago when you had to be non-white or female, with a minimum of two years post secondary to even get a second look. Anyone have any guess' as to why the need for such a recruitment drive. I think everyone know why my answer will be. Pay is good too, according to the article starting pay is 43k per year. After three years it jumps to 73k, that's not too shabby. Hmm maybe I'll have to get over my shyness and become a mountie.

Yep, it's been the plan for some time now. Think I'll start the application process in a couple of years.
I think I'd make a good cop. I've got a fair bit of patience, I'm empathic, but I also don't take people's crap. Not to mention I love helping people and enjoy law.

Well good luck, I think if you do it in the next few years you'll have an excellent chance. The only downside I can see, is that you go where they need you. That could be the far north or the other side of the country. Of course that's not always a downside to some.

Ziggy, the video won't play.
The moving where they tell you is a kind of a downside, but I've lived in this area for my entire life, so getting a chance to go elsewhere may be a nice change.

If you've lived here your whole life it could be nice to get out. Having lived in the same area as you I know how nice it can be, but I guess there are other beautiful areas in Canada.

Hmmm... Yeah I am considering it, but this won't apply to me. I still have to go through 4 years of university, and I was considering 4 years of military service. Though I figure with those credentials I wouldn't have a problem getting in anyways.

It's a noble profession to be a police officer but if you achieve these goals you'd be selling yourself short by becoming an cop. You could work at something just as noble but at a higher income level. In my opinion cops are underpaid.

My buddy just failed the test...he passed everything but failed because he used the term "we" to much in his phsc test instead of the term I.
He was trying to show them he was a team player but it backfired on him because they want more desicive people.
