I’m not asking to close the border. I’m asking for multi-nation country which represents its modern history and traditions and culture. Which is from Europe inc. Ukraine, England and France.

We adopted this motto because Christian men and women.......on Christian principles.............founded this nation..... and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools.
If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home.........because
God is part of our culture.

As a Canadian with family roots going back over 5 generations I must say... I'm not Christian and God has nothing to do with my culture. Please keep your religion to your self. I'm not going to cry if you wish me a marry chrismas and I'l take any day off work that I can, but don't think I support your theological interpretation of what being a Canadian is.

Every teacher I ever had always brings that little phrase up. I think it must be part of the education system.

I think you are right, anytime to try and have a rational conversation about immigration that little gem about eastern Europeans comes up.

You know, for those of you that don't like the quantities of non-European immigrants we get, there are really two wide open doors that would need to be shut.

1) "Free trade" agreements

2) Commonwealth membership

If you look over our immigration laws, those are the two biggies.

Complaining without acting just makes one a whiner. Don't like the situation? Write your politicians about eliminating the causes.

Based on the countries you'd prefer to have an open door policy with, it sounds like you'd be happy with an essentially "White Canada" policy, or would you let in all those Hispanics from the US too? Sounds like thinly veiled racism on your part...

Now if we do have these standards and limits why do we have all these poor people being let to come here? Also the third world is nortorious for giving out fake certificates for education. I know people from Europe with very high skills and they have trouble getting here. Yet the refugees and people who drive the cabs seem to be getting here okay interesting. My idea is if we can't get immigrants from those selected countries then we should do without. Anyway we have 225,000 people coming here from the third world every year. Lets just lower for 200,000 maybe multiple that by 30 years? That’s 6.7 million minorities. Plus the 5.6 we have now so about 12 million people. So in 30 years 36% of Canada will be the visible minority but probably even more maybe 40% if it is above 200,000 people.

You are right our population isn't really growing it is dieing and guess who is replacing it? I'm looking at long-term projections something people fail to see. I'm not a minority I really don't desire to be one or have my children in my own country be one either. Sure the minorities will be happy but the majorities like me will hardly be shouting hurray for multiculturalism in 50 years I will tell you that. By then it will be surely too late so in a 100 years what will Canada look like I ask you? We will maybe have 45 million people us europeans will be 70 years of age and up while the rest of the country will be todays minorities dominating proabably 70%-80% of it. Yes the future looks great doesn't it?

We cannot discriminate based on race, religion, etc. or country of origin. Sound familiar?

We also get refugees from all of the wars in the world, and famine, etc.

We need immigrants because our country is not growing from within. Once all of us baby-boomers are finished with the pension plan, there won't be much left for you younglings unless we beef up the population some, and, because of human rights, we can't pick and choose by race as some naive racists like clogeroo would espouse.

The funny thing is that if this email was written 100 years ago, it'd be bitching about the Ukrainians, Doukhbours and other 'undesirables' from Eastern Europe who were despised by most of the French/English Canadians of early 20th century.

Its funny how everyone brings that up. Every teacher I ever had always brings that little phrase up. I think it must be part of the education system. Read statement in case student questions immigration. Many Ukrainians were treated quite well and most went on the prairies to live. Most were not even around many English or French Canadians. I'm sure there was some discrimination but the government did allow them to come here and many people didn't mind them. The only major thing we did was put some in interment camps because Ukraine was associated with Austria-Hungary during the Great War therefore we felt the need to protect us from our enemies and also the whole communism thing later on. Other than that I would say they were hardly done by.

Lets not forget that "our" history falls short in comparison to other countries..that being said, the Ukrainians were for the most part one of the first settlers to risk their lives by coming to Canada and also had to survive in those conditions..the Cdn Government did not give them a choice but rather placed them in one of the worst possible places..(no dig there towards Western Canada).

The Liberal’s solution for it? They are offering another tax, which they call traffic congestion fee. We will have to pay them for their misleading of infrastructure grows.

learning english sounds like a very inteligent thing to do, but making it mandatory sounds petty and doesn't solve a thing.

The issue we really need to address is: Some of the other countries have been killing each other for hundreds of years, it is deeply ingrained into their culture. I beleive that imigrants that come to canada want to leave the killing behind, yet preserve their culture. Thats difficult to do, some of them fail to separate the 2.

If you look at middle eastern countries, there is no separation of church and state. Heck, often the same people that are running church and state are also running organized crime and terrorism.

IMO, these are the sort of issues imigration needs to address. We are wasting our time if all we require is the memorization of provinces and capitals.

thats my 2 cents worth

Bodah Bodah:
I tell you what dude, go to Saudi Arabia and complain about racism there.

That is a specious and irrelevant comparison. This is about what is acceptable in Canada, not somewhere else.We cannot justify behaviour by pointing at someone else and saying "But he --"

Bodah Bodah:

Don't like it here move somewhere else !

Who are you, then, to command that IceOwl "move somewhere else" because he doesn't agree with your point of view, rather than stay where he was perhaps born and try to influence others by peacefully expressing his commitments and values? Your demand is the total opposite of what you claim to be protecting with such indignation. There is a cognitive dissonance here.

They all know English. It is not the issue at all.
Here is how they describe our weather in Canada:

"Yes, Canada has the worst weather conditions of any country in the world. Freezing cold temperatures, snow, ice, hail, winds, storms etc. From the Prairie provinces to the Maritimes, from the Territories to southern Ontario, the weather is so horrific and disgusting that many Canadians leave Canada simply because of this reason alone"
