I don't know call me old fashioned or something but.....

Should we really be debating about this in this thread? MAYBE we should start a new thread for the MJ debate.... MAYBE this one should just be used to express RESPECT and SORROW for these fallen Mounties.

Just MAYBE.......

Here is a new thread to discuss marijuana.

Legalize it. Fully and completely. Sell it in liquor stores and off-sales, just like we do with booze.

License growers. You already need a permit or a quota for other crops...hell, you need one for milk. No reason not to do the same with pot.

It's time to stop this puritanical witch hunt driven by ignorance and corporate lobbyists who feel their wallets are threatened by marijuana and even industrial hemp.

Frankly, I'm going to smoke pot wether it's legal or not. Under the current laws I'm a criminal cause I spark a joint, or take a pull off the pipe when I get home from work. Bullshit.

It's a recreational drug, people, most anyhow, would treat it as such. Some would cry "Oh society would fall apart!!" Yeah good point it's legal in the Netherlands isn't it, and everyone knows how fucked up thier country is! aahhhbullshitchew. oh excuse me.

Frankly, I don't see it happening any time soon, so call crime stoppers on me boys, get them to come over and bust me, charge me convict me( hell i wouldnt deny it) and sentence me cause Im sooooooo fucking evil it's mind boggling!! For example, tonight I plan on watching a movie with the missus and then maybe try to score a piece! How can Canada sleep knowing people like me are out there? Im so intenet on destoying society that...oh look!...a fluffy bunny!!!...hehe..hehe..here little bunny! LMFAO

Sadly, the deaths of those 4 young officers will be used as a platform by both sides on this debate. I will say no more than my heart goes out to thier families

I agree with Rev the shit should be legal.
Tax the hell out of it like everything else and regulate it.
It free up resources to fight real problems and drugs that are dangerous like cocaine.
This is not a shot but Rev how are corporations agianst this?
I have not heard that before.

Hell, I'm from BC and I've smoked pounds of the stuff. The only reason I quit was mung mouth, just couldn't stand the dry pasty mouth after smokin. I still don't like the idea of making it legal.

For all intents and purposes.. the "herb"
is just that...
What's the worst that can happen?
Peeps go into a grocery store and buy out all the Munchies?
As opposed to hard core drugs..eg: crack.. heroin...
where they shoot ya?
Indians didn't call it the "Peace Pipe" for nothing eh...

P/S. I AM a child of the very early 60's...

Where do you draw the line??? Well im sure people said that when legalization of alcohol was being debated. You simply draw the line.

Crack, cocaine, heroin, lsd(little silly dodads!), mushrooms, peyote, and crystal meth can all kill you if you do too much, hell alcohol can kill you if you drink too much. How many people overdose with pot and die? If you can overdose on pot and die, then I should have been dead long ago. Not a valid arguement in my opinion QBCguy, but im biased. We are taking about the legalization of marijuana, not the legalization of each and every drug known to man.

Well, besides a brief time in the US when the radical religious right got booze banned, it's pretty much always been legal. The problem will be that, oh maybe next week crack heads will be saying, hey you legalized pot, your infringing on my rights if you let them smoke pot and I don't get to smoke crack. You know it's going to happen. I just think it's one of those pandora's box issues.

Yeah I'm in favour of complete legalisation. As has already been mentioned, there are substances that are legal which are far more harmful, and a regulated marijuana industry would be a bonanza for government coffers. Bring it on!

QBCguy does raise a good point however, where would we ultimately draw the line? I think legalising pot is a no-brainer, just as keeping cocaine illegal is also a no-brainer. But between those extremes lies a murky grey area...

Even if it would be legal...
Just like alcohol and cigarettes kids can still get access.
For extreme medicinal purposes...
I can see no harm.

Legalize it,tax the shit out of it,then all that cash can go somewhere where it will do some good.

Saying that the crack and crystal meth junkies will want that legal also is pure BS,most crackheads couldn't give 2 shits if it was legal or not, they just want that next pull on the pipe and they will get it. Pot is natural, crack, meth and heroin aren't.
Will legalizing it stop the grow ops? I dont think so but if the incentive for profit(tax free) is taken away then it will slow down some.

The whole thing is a no brainer, legalize it and home invasions and B and E's go down, tax fraud and evasion go down, money laundering gets a kick in the ass,and maybe a good part of the population tries the "killer weed" and mellows out.Lots of grow-ops out there and surprisingly it's not all bikers or gangs doing it. Lots of pissed of taxpayers doing it,tired of the feds screwing them.

Alcohol in my mind causes more pain and suffering than any other stimulant out there.

Think back on how many violent episodes you have seen in your life where alcohol was a factor and then do the same for pot.

30 years from now we will sit back and laugh at how pot was illegal back when.

Legalize Marijuana!

If it were legalized then there wouldn’t be as much mob and crime going on, take the 4 RCMP that were killed storming into a grow-op.
I mean, you might as well illegalise alcohol if this is the case

There is no evidence that there is a large number of people who wish to smoke weed but don’t because it is against the law. Therefore there is no reason to assume if weed is legalized there will be a huge influx of people showing up to work stoned dragging down the economy.
