The people who pull the strings over there want Israel to grow; to be a bigger and bigger base from which to try and control the oil in the region. This has nothing to do with the people of Israel or Jewish people. This has to do with international politics and big money, which are practically the same thing.

Its about time... I don't know how it relates, but, a long time ago, they should have taken those people out of Gaza and West bank, and erected that great wall. There would have been less death on both side of the fence. Then you don't have to police two population, along with a vast territory, but a barrier.

Cudos to Sharon.

I don't know whether to agree with you on this or not. It would have been good if they built the wall to keep Israelis out of Palestinian land (IMHO, the whole country is Palestine, different topic though). I'd really like to see some peace in the region to begin with, and eventually a Palestinian state so atleast they have something.

How is the whole country Palestine? Please elaborate. Im curious as to how you came up with that conclusio when history has proven otherwise.

You would have to understand the history of the area, U of S. Start by reading up on the decisions made after WWI, then follow it through taking both the history of the Jews (indigenous and those that went to Israel from the rest of the world) and what we now call Palestinians into account.

If you want, you can go even farther back in time, but what happened in Paris in 1919 really set the stage for the creation of Israel and all of the problems that have ensued.

I don't disagree with the creation of the state of Israel, but the way it was done and the refusal to recognise other people in the area was ridiculous. The area has been called Palestine by some since biblical times, by the way. That includes Jews, Christians, Muslims, and the followers of many other religions.

As far as what Avro said about the path to peace/too little too late etc. Well this is a good decision in my opinion, but now with Arafat sick and possibly dying well, whoever becomes his successor will be the deciding factor if peace will come to Isreal.
