Does anyone wonder why the terrorist attack attempts have been super lame and amateurish in the US since 911?

Has security really improved that much? Or have the terrorists become dumber?

They seem to not have issues with getting shit to blow up in the middle east so why have they had difficulty in the west?

keeps me thinkin' yeah, all of these security measures implimented which are farrrrrr from perfect and yet they still catch the "terrorists"
that underwear bomber had he succeeded would've blown up the detroit plane over petrolia ontario which is 20 mins north of me
the thing is he had training but it still failed to blow
whether its luck, incompetence i don't know

"Super lame" and "amateurish"? You mean like the 2002 Bali bombings which killed 202 people; the 2004 Madrid bombings which killed 191 people; and the 2005 London bombings which killed 52 people?

Take a look at his original post. Are you really saying these locales are in the US?

To answer the question, yes, security has gotten better in the US, IMO. And Al Qaeda's abilities have been seriously degraded as well.

Not really. A mixture of heightened security, some luck, and vigilance by both law enforcement, intelligence agencies, and average citizens have kept the US safe.

I mean, there have been a number of attempts. The shoe bomber, the underwear bomber, the Fort Dix plan, and the 2010 Portland Christmas plot are a few threats on the US since 9-11.

I'm not sure how they were lame or amateurish, since, well, they were creative (in the...originality aspect of the plot) and they were quite serious. The shoe bomber/underwear bomber attempts could have occurred if the terrorists had better luck

And the gonchie bomber shows how lax security still is/was. He was on a watch list but was allowed to fly from Nigeria to Europe to the US with no luggage and a one way ticket bought in cash. His own father had turned him in.

True, though if you read the original post, he did end it with
$1:
They seem to not have issues with getting shit to blow up in the middle east so why have they had difficulty in the west?
so the observations and responses were fair since most assumed the 'west' meant beyond the US.

Bali certainly isn't the west. And Europe has also not had any Muslim great terror attacks since they had theirs and tightened things up. As I'm sure Norway will do because of their non-muslim attack. I guess any country needs to get hit at least once before it really gets serious. As well, the London and Madrid attacks were from locals - those are a lot harder to guard against.

That little red warning box ain't no badge of honour, and I doubt your continuing little barbs will help you enjoy your stay.

Just some more advice for you to ignore at your forum peril.
