darr darr:
My name is Darr, I’m living in Melbourne now but will be relocating to Canada in a couple months. I hope I can learn a couple things about the new country I’ll be living in from this place.

Ah... we can have a
forign forum exchange plan, since I myself will be moving to Melbourne in a few months from Atlantic Canada.
Basically from what the misses explains to me, the only things you're going to have to get used to are the sporadic weather patterns, more extreme seasonal changes, roads are opposite from how you drive down there, and people say thank you or excuse me more often.
Oh but one thing I'd suggest is for you to make sure you get decent medical coverage for the entire time you are here. My gf thought she had a decent plan by expired after the first year, and only covered serious medical situations like a car accident or losing an arm, etc..... basic medical coverage wasn't included, so each time she needed to goto the doctor or hospital, it came out of her pocket.
As an example, to visit the doctor you're looking between $30-40 per visit. To goto the ER, get tested and get a perscription, you're rounding up towards the $300-400 mark.
So make sure you have some type of decent coverage for everything you may need.... including dental.
Hmmm.... anything else?
Ummmm...... oh.... bring Vegemite with you, cuz depending on where you move to, it'll be a pain in the ass to find any here and if you do, it's double the cost compared to back in Australia.
And Tim Tams are just coming about around here, so you'll have some food from home still to choose from.
Besides all that... there is the Winter you're going to have to figure out.
I've been told your winters only hit Zero at night time, if you're lucky and average about 10-15 during the day.
Get ready for -20 or colder weather.... something my gf never experienced before until coming here.
Then again, I never experienced a 47 degree summer heat either.... but I'm told it's not as bad cuz it's a dry heat, while here she can't even stand the 32 degree summers with high humidity that can range between 40-60 degrees.
(Yes, about 5 years ago here in Halifax, we had a Humidex of 60.... it sucked)
Anywho, welcome.
