I am hoping someone can help me. I tried 'Dr Google' and I got nothing. In my carpentry class I am building a full size bar. One of my corners is a 24 inch radius circle. I am now attaching trim to the top of the bar edge.

I was wondering if anyone knows of a math equation or something for building arches. That way, I figure, I can cut the same angle on a whole bunch of small triangular pieces and fit them into place like an arch around the corner. If anyone knew, it would be GREATLY appreciated.

Awwwwwwww!!! NO ONE KNOWS? Damn. Well does anyone know how I should create a corner piece of trim then without all the agle cutting?

I tried even looking up a formula on google, but couldn't find anything. I will try my brain once again tommorow in carpentry to try and gigure out this problem on my own.

I don't know of a special formula per-say but it depends on the number of segments you want to use and how long the arc is, semi circular, 90 degrees, etc.

the angle of each joint, i think, is

angle of arc/(2*number of segments)
assuming you want to use trapazoidal pieces on the outside

the length of each segment requires a bit of trig that is hard to type out and explain fully. i think you use the sine rule:

sin a = sin b = sin c
side A side B side C

I just hadn't seen the topic yet. Now that i am out of school, i find i am away from the internet a lot more (dial up at home). No longer do i post morning, noon and night, other wise i would have said something sooner
