Hello everyone!

Ok I am not the greatest person at using the search function, nor am I really good using Google search!

So, I thought I would ask here if that is ok. Mods, please move this to the correct section if this is not the correct place.

So, I am wondering if anyone has any statistics on immigration.. Like, what is the current immigrant population in Canada, in Québec in particular, where do most immigrants come from, what are the major ethnic minorities, what is the second/third generation immigrant population, etc?

I read that last year we allowed over 275,000 people in.. This is ridiculously high in my opinion. In 4 years, that would equate to over a million people. For a country of 32 million people, this is downright ridiculous to allow so many immigrants in. I know that we, as a highly advanced and welcoming country, should welcome multiculturalism and should welcome people to our country, but we have to set limits as well. We have to know when too much is too much, to ensure that overpopulation does not happen, infrastructural issues, etc.

So, I thought I would ask. Any statistics or info would be appreciated.

My boyfriend is an immigrant here to Québec, but he is from the USA so I am not sure if that counts :P
