Thanos Thanos:
It's so dead (in Calgary) now that you can drive around in rush hour and get home at least fifteen minutes earlier than you could two years ago.

That sounds appealing to me. Took me 35 minutes to go the seven miles to work this morning on Interstate 5.

No. There's not much appealing in watching a city die.

Why does it have to be a city?
Not enough wood.

We are looking at Ottawa (sister lives there), Vancouver (I was born there) or Calgary.

Why cities? Cities are full of citiots. Move to a small town. Reject the rat-race, the congestion and the stress. Go rural.

Calgary's toast now. Don't come here if you're planning on any sort of future.

I was there two weeks ago it was like the Walking Dead. 8O

It was unsettling seeing iron lined up over and over.

Call yourself an illegal Mexican and the Obama administration will fall all over themselves to help you out.

I'm too white, would never work...LOL

A close friend of mine from Intel was in Russia and met and married a nice lady but after five years of trying could not get her a visa to even visit the USA. He had her come through Mexico and she filed as an illegal from Mexico and now she's a US citizen.

Meaning you're not too white. Just call yourself 'Carlos Martinez' and say you have no papers. Boom. Done.

Don't get me wrong, I hate that this shit is the way it is right now but if it works for you then why not?

That's fucked up

^^ This. I'm selling my place in the country to try to find a place in the woods. ;)

Cheaper housing, lower taxes, no neighbours, and no one to tell me that my lawn needs mowing! And if I want to get some sheep to keep that lawn trimmed, there is no one to say 'NIMBY'. :)

Yes it is. Now my advice is to give it a go before Trump comes along and puts an end to it.

Is it immigration fraud? Sure it is. But where you're decent enough to leave then you're who I'd wish would stay. [B-o]

I also forgot his autographed 8x10 and a Liberal membership card "refugees" receive when he welcomes them at the airport.

Unless you're a millionaire, avoid Vancouver. Housing prices are beyond obscene and rentals are overpriced and night impossible to find.

Other than that, good luck and welcome home!

Sales are down yes, but prices are still vastly out of proportion. Same with most of Metro Vancouver. Even here in Abby the prices have gone up drastically in the last two years as all the people who are getting prices out of Vancouver are moving east.

Be pretty damn funny if kicking the foreign buyers out of the local real estate game collapsed Vancouver's ponzi scheme economy and turned out to be the trigger that essentially flattens the entire Potemkin village of the national Canadian economy. Nationalism in action, just not the smart kind of nationalism.

A big correction is going to happen one way or another. If it helps keep Vancouver from being a ghost town, better now than later.
