Rand Paul or Marco Rubio should have been the GOP nominee. There are elements of Clintons policies which I like such as justice reform and free trade. I cannot support increased taxes, higher debt or the potential for a major push for Green technology. We had this in Ontario and it failed miserably while turning Ontario into the most indebted sub borrower in the world.

As I said, Obama will be missed.

Someone more Conservative would have won if a former Democrat (for the vast majority of his life) Donald Trump had not joined and pretended to be a Republican. He brought a populist message which is resonating with an angry voter base across the U.S at the expense of Conservative principles, save for a few. If it had been a three or four way race from the start, he might have not have even won the Primary.

Both candidates have the highest negatives in U.S election history, and it's not even close.

$1:
Obama though has set a record in releasing people convicted of Drug deals and Fraud, 10 times as many as any other President.

Yeah but that's a good thing. These are commuted sentences for non-violent drug offenders with good behaviour, who have already served more time in prison than if they were sentenced for the same crime today, thanks to ridiculous mandatory drug sentencing requirements from the 80's and 90's that have since been reduced.

If Trump had not been on the ballot the media would've spent their time and energy savaging the only conservative on the ballot who was Ted Cruz. Instead Cruz managed to avoid most of their hatred because the media was so focused on Trump.

If Trump were not in this then Cruz would have lost because he lacks the ability to stand up to the media like Trump can.

Meaning we would have ended up with some mealy-mouthed milquetoast who would've lost the general election to Hillary.

Seriously, Trump was not my first choice but it's become clear to me that he's the only Republican who was capable of defeating both Hillary and the leftist media that's openly supporting her.

What planet are you on? Trump's uncontrollable lunatic mouth is the GOP's biggest liability. Hillary is not a likeable candidate, this could've been a cake walk for almost any Republican; pretty sure Romney or McCain could beat her if they were running today.

Romney for sure. My guess is from the primary, Rand Paul, Rubio, Jeb Bush, maybe even Ben Carson would have beaten her. Any race would have been close though, that's just the way it is especially with both Obama helping the Democrats campaign.

I don't fear Clinton as much as some do. She has her baggage and problems, this is certain, but at least she understands these negatives and will work to address them. The only worry many have is the potential for her to be above reproach whereas if Trump won he would be under the microscope to such a degree that any wrong moves and the move to impeach him would ensue.

I am far more worried about Crazy Bernies people pushing hard for their agenda and turning America into some European satellite than I am worried about Clinton. Some of these people from the far left are absolutely nuts, to the point of some of them being openly against the U.S Constitution. It's a scary time. Let's hope Clinton doesn't give in to the far left within her party.

A monkey would beat Hillary.

Too bad the monkey couldn't produce a valid birth certificate so now they're stuck with Donald. :(

You make such an offensive and racist remark to the leader of an ally nation? You should be apologizing and retracting that comment. What in the hell did the U.S do to you, specifically the president to encourage you to make such a statement?

Were you raised in a barn or did you just developed this offensive language over time?

I think I understand!

No, Obama was the farthest thing from my mind when I wrote that. The only insult intended was to Donald and in lesser degree, Hillary.

Yes I love America. I love their system of freedom, liberty and loyalty to the constitution. I don't hate Canada, but clearly Canada and the system that allows immense powers and abuses by authority hates me.

I had a conversation with a guy who spoke poorly of the U.S, my response to him was simple, regardless of ones opinion, America hasn't done any harm to me. I have no reason to dislike them, nor should most Canadians who don't even appreciate a system that speaks up for human rights.

You attack a man who has openly spoken out against abuses in the world, whether in Russia, China or the Philippines. That takes principle. So I don't protect anyone, I find it offensive you revert to schoolyard cursing of a president while reliving the absurd conspiracies of his place of birth. You should be apologising, you have embarrassed yourself with such comments.
