$1:

Trump's ascendency has Republican thinkers, brass talking of thwarting the will of primary voters

Why stop him? The only way for an addict to change is for them to hit the lowest point of human dignity. The only way the US will realize that they no longer participate in a democracy is to put Trump in the White House for 4 years, with a Congress that will do what he wants!

We get the government we deserve, after all.

Certainly tempting to take that attitude. Scary tho, even for us.

Why? We can't vote for him, we can't vote against him. We can't do anything about it, and it's illegal for us to try. He's obviously popular enough to bring people out to vote for him. Why not sit back and let things take their course?

Yes, it'll be a train wreck. It will be a preventable train wreck. But there is only so much we can do, then we become onlookers. Put your feet up, grab your favorite adult beverage, and watch the show!

And if it looks inevitable that he's going to win, stock up on water, dried foods, ammo and gasoline.

Short of a well-placed bullet he probably isn't going to be stopped. Right-wing Americans will also get the permanently-paralyzed federal government they always wanted because Congress isn't going to work with Trump at all. It'll make the hyper-partisan Obama years look like a golden era of administrative and legislative co-operation and friendly compromise in comparison.

It saddens me to see that the United States, a powerful and influential nation has turned its self praised democratic process into nothing more than a televised gong show. Perhaps history has been written already and the 'Donald' will become the next, and probably last, President of the United States. IF this comes to be then the USA will become that laughing stock of the rest of the world as it collapses in on itself. Not a great thing for the rest of the world because the ,once, most powerful nation in the world will become a protectionist, racist and scared nation.

I beg the saner minds in the U.S. to pinch themselves and wake up to see what is happening to you.

I don't know, lots of nutbars in the Republican congress. But it will almost certainly fracture the Republicans even further. Maybe the minority Democrats will wind up running the country because they stick together. of course they have their share of nutbars too.

Not even a little. ;)

I have faith that the US military will not obey illegal orders to invade a non-hostile country given by that man. (If that was what you were assuming.)

Well, so far democracy has not been compromised. Most people voted for Trump. If he gets the majority of delegates and takes the nomination, that's democracy, right? Of course it's the type of democracy that leads to insanity, but that's another matter.

If the US can go thru this and survive, they might be better off. Democracy is already farked in the US, with Citizen's United and how big money sways the politicians. In that way, Trump may be a positive, since he's doesn't appear to be playing that game. Maybe he'll be the US's savior, sounding like a Mussolini nutbag to get elected, then cleaning house once he does. Gotta think positive.

Depends. Trump is real-populist while the TeaBirchers are fake-populist. There might be some general agreement between the two but as someone who can actually afford to be genuinely independent Trump might not be too likely to take orders from the likes of the Koch brothers or Sheldon Adelson or any of the others behind the Tea Party movement. I have some huge doubts that Trump believes in much of anything besides a massive unshakable narcissistic belief in himself. I can't see anyone with that kind of personality taking very kindly to being coerced or pushed around by another group that thinks it too walks on water.

I wasn't at all thinking of Trump wanting to invade us. But fucking up the US economy and poking sticks in the world hornet's nest, yes. That will affect us for sure.

Oh, for sure! But having stocked up on certain items can help one weather that storm.

I think he'd have to pick someone like Charlie Sheen as VP. That would be the only way the Secret Service would take a bullet for him, is if they know the alternative is much worse.

R=UP

I think that's the only policy item he's presented. "I'm good at business". That and the fact that he doesn't think that America is great anymore.

You're going to need a warehouse, since this would be a multi-year storm.
